The film takes place in 1993 when the U.S. sent special forces into Somalia to bring food and humanitarian aid to the starving population. The only good thing Josh Hartnet did!

Josh is more at home with an M16 than with a million dollar plane, who would have guessed. This is a great war movie, but is only for those who love blood, gore, LOTS of bullets, and dead bodies. But it also shows team work, heroism, and the U.S. never... leave a man behind attitude. Based on the true story of U.S. marines in Somilia, but Bill Clinton nerver sent enough troops over there and that is shown in one sceen when a downed Black Hawk piolet sees 2 U.S. soliders coming toward him and asks, Wheres the rescue team? the 2 then respond, Wherere it. And also when a bunch of U.S. soliders are trapped and we cant send anyone over because we highly underestimated the enemy. The main emphisis of this movie is nerer leave a man behind. In this movie (and in real life) about 12 men are killed to save 1. That might sound rediculous but this movie makes it look heroic. If you enjoyed this movie you would also like Platoon, The Thin Red Line, The Rock, Behind Enemy Lines, Enemy at the Gates, Saving Private Ryan, Windtalkers, and Die Hard. Parents should be cautioned that this movie is rated R for extreme violence and extreme language ( their most commenly used weapon is the F bomb). Read more Less
