    This was the first depeche mode album i ever listened to, and it remains my favourite. Every song is great, but I prefer the single version of 'a question of time' to the album version.

    Black Celebration best ever!!

    Black Celebration has remained my favorite Depeche Mode album since it came out in '86, although I must admit that it battled it out for a time with Violator, but in the end, Black stood the test of time! It just sounds so good after all these years!... A very personal, deep album, a huge departure from earlier albums. A great album from start to finish! You have to have this in your library!     With "Black Celebration", DM started its run of three excellent albums, which also include "Music for the Masses" and "Violator". However, if I had to pick ONE personal favorite, "Black" narrowly edges out the other two albums. Songs like "New Dress"..., "Fly on the Windscreen", and "Question of Time" make me want to listen again and again -- even though its 15 years old! Read more Less

    First heard this album in 1990. No other DM album compares to it. Martin Gore had put total body and soul into this album and he should have been crowned for it!!!

    After reading your reviews I grabbed this CD off the shelf and listened one more time, and you are right! This album is incredible! Besides violator, this could be their best! So dark.

    deep music and heavy lyrics is the name of the game with Depeche. Though this, and other depeche albums are not for everyone, M.L. Gore's brilliant songwriting and Depeche's original sound make this an amazing piece of music. 5 out of 5

    For christ's sake! What can I say ... I still can't understand how someone can conceive an album like this. If "The Beatles" were what Pelé has been for football, then M.L.Gore is the musical copy of Diego Armando Maradona!
