Pros: great suction, long attachment hose
Cons: attachments not secure in storage, canister hard to empty
With 8 cats and a dog, I was drowning in pet hair. My old Eureka Boss wouldn't even start to pick it up and after vacuuming I had to pick up furballs off the floor. One time with the Bissell and all the fur was gone! It did a great job on my curtains, sofas, and even the cat tree. I have vaulted ceilings and my old vac's hose wouldn't reach to clean up there. The Bissell reached easily. It's much quieter than even my mom's Kirby. I don't like the cone design of the canister which makes it a bit hard to empty. The attachments aren't secure in their storage spots and fall off which isn't great either. All in all I'm well satisfied and paid considerably less than I would have for the Dyson I looked at.
Pros: none
Cons: broke after three uses
This is the worst built vacuum I've ever owned, it simply stopped working after three or four uses, the canister gets clogged at the back where it is tightest between the exterior of the cannister and the inner engine...it does have a lot of suction power but is built so cheaply it breaks the first time you bump a piece of furniture, etc. Paid $169 on sale at PC Richard... lasted two months tops... soooooo angry right now
Pros: good suction - attachments are great
Cons: dumping dirt out is a little tricky
This was our first bagless vacuum. We love it! It is powerful to get up everything off floor - we have a dog and two kids. It works great. I borrowed my motherinlaws dyson and the attachments are so hard to use its not worth the extra money. The bissell healthy home is a little heavier but the attachments work so much easier than the dyson. I would totally recommend the Bissell Healthy Home to anyone!
Pros: None
Cons: clogs easily, very heavy
I was going from a dyson to this piece of garbage. I was trying to save money. Don't bother. I had to clean out the hose every time I used it, and it was very heavy. Now I'm off to buy a dyson. I don't have time for a wimpy vacuum cleaner.
Pros: None
Cons: all
I have never owned a vacuum or any other object that I actually hated so much! My husband bought this product for me as gift to make my life easier. I have owned it now for about 6 months. I dread using it, but that would only be if I could even get it to ever work.
First of all, it is the heaviest vacuum ever. It is almost impossible to carry it or move from one place to another. I have to use both hands, strain my back and puff and puff to carry it.
Second, it is extremely hard to open the dust container to empty it.
Third, most of the time it won't start, for no apparent reason. I have to play with it turning it off and on several times; releasing the dust container off and on; calling my husband for help; and then if we are lucky, it will start only to shut off a few seconds later, and we go back to the same starting process all over again.
Forth, now the roller won't come on. Again, no apparent reason. The roller is clean, the dust container is clean, etc, etc, etc.
And we paid $300.00 for it!
I wanted to return it as soon as i opened the box and try to lift it, but my husband had done some research as to which vacuum to buy and they highly recommed this one, so he wanted to give it a chance. It is so heavy that the shipping cost would have been almost too expensive to send back, so here we are with a $300.00 vacuum that is the most worthless vacuum that I have ever owned, and with no vacumm to use because it does not work.
So, no, I would never recommend this item to anyone.
Pros: it certainly does suck, great tools, can turn off beater bar
Cons: dirt canister not too durable, telescoping wand collapses, not for area rugs
I loved to vacuum everyday with this machine, but I had to start at the bottom of the stairs and be careful with it when it was at the top. It sucked so hard that my very thick area rugs were adhered to the bottom of it, making it nearly impossible to push or pull, and I had to settle for trying to use the spin brush attachment for that entire 9 by 11 area, bent over, finally resorting to tape to keep the expanding wand from collapsing, and frequently fixing its tiny belt. I have three boys, red clay soil, twod large dogs and two cats, and I love to garden, so this vac had a heavy load. if only the darn thing would come apart for user cleaning, it wouldn't have died - once I vacuumed up a water spill I couldn't see. I let it dry out thoroughly and cleaned it the best I could. It worked a couple more times, but then it wouldn't suck any more. I liked the beater bar turning off to preserve the belt. I never smelled burning rubber or had a broken belt. I have aging berber which regularly pops loose and wraps around the beater bar, so this was extremely important to me. I wanted to cry when it died. Maybe I'll try a canister next.
Pros: incredible suction,versatile,very clean
Cons: none yet for me.maybe heavy/bulky for some
the main reason i use a vacuum is to pull dirt from my carpet and not redistribute it all over the house.this vacuum does that better than any vacuum that i have ever seen, plus the accessories make for easy cleaning of furniture, upholstery, and fans.does a great job on smooth surfaces.the button for brush deactivation is nice, however we still have to bend over to adjust the floor setting for it work properly on our tile floors.overall i do not see a need for any more power, this thing is already on the verge of too much.
Pros: While it worked, it did a good job on carpets
Cons: Falls apart and mine burned up in less than 1 year
I bought this because consumer reports rated it well for bagless vacuums for dust allergies and pet hair. It had great suction, but it is so cheaply made, it began falling apart within the first month. First the plastic holder for the dust container broke, then the carpet brush would not reliably engage when I moved from floor to carpet, then yesterday the dust container began melting on me. Now, less than a year later, it has a hole and is entirely useless. Hoping to save others from making the same mistake.
Pros: it does suck
Cons: broke after only 4 months and help is hard to find
The bissell healthy home vac has received many good reveiws but i am one of the people who has brush problems, where the thing keeps turning itself off-I spent extra money on this one with hopes of it lasting awhile-so much for that.
Pros: Cleans well
Cons: "Lifetime" belt is not
I was very pleased with this product until the âLifetimeâ belt for the floor brush broke after less than a year of use. I was first told by Bissell customer service rep. that I was not allowed to replaced this belt myself and had to bring the vacuum to a service center. Their closest service center to my home was over 20 miles away. Bissell refused to allow me to even purchase belt and insisted I go to a service center.
I then contacted a nearest service center and was informed that this belt has not been available for over a month and no specific date when any would be available. It seems that there is a high failure rate of this belt.
Luckily I kept our old vacuum or I have to purchase another one.
DO NOT BUY THIS VACUUM!!!!!!
Pros: OUTSTANDING SUCTION, GREAT ATTACHMENTS
Cons: no retractable cord (otherwise this would be the perfect vacuum)
Wow, where to start. LOVE IT After much review and debating I finally decided upon this vacuum. This is the first Bissell I have owned and I have been IMPRESSED with it. I had always owned Hoover and they are just not as good as they used to be. I had vacuumed with my *6* MONTH OLD Hoover Mach 4 the day before I got this one and the Bissell pulled up sooooo much dirt from the carpet it was unbelievable. We had a stain on the floor (or so I thought it was) and when I went over it, it removed it completely. My old vacuum never even made a difference on this spot. My husband even noticed how much bighter and softer the carpet was after the first use. We live in an apartment and this was the first time I felt the carpets were REALLY CLEAN! The quality of construction is wonderful. It does not look or feel as though it will fall apart after a few months of use. Compared with a Dyson, this Bissell wins hands down.
The only thing that keeps this from being the perfect vacuum is not having a retractable cord. Those have been around for years and I just wish all companies would make it standard, there is nothing worse than having to bend over to wrap the cord around. It is a tad bit heavy so older people or someone who has a bad back might have a little trouble with this, but I happily vacuumed for more than an hour the first day and I had no problems at all with it being too heavy.
This vacuum was so easy to put together, just one screw and attach the attachments and your good to go!!!! EASY.
Overall: UNBEATABLE SUCTION, OUTSTANDING QUALITY, GREAT ATTACHMENTS, 2 YEAR WARRANTY AND IT LOOKS SLEEK! A GREAT BUY
Pros: Excellent suction, Easy to use hose attachment, Picks up the hair, Less dust except when emptying
Cons: Quality is second rate at best, No user servicable belt or beater brush, Heavy
I must say that this vacuum is my first baggless HEPA. My son has allergies so I thought this would be good. I will likely never buy another one simply due to the dust cloud effect of emptying the container. Are there any bagged true HEPA vacuums out there?
The first month we had it the Turbo hose brush attachment broke from a mild impact into our kitchen table and will no longer clip onto the vacuum for storage. I figured ok my fault but bad design for placement to store the attachment. The rubber protector around the brush enclosure base grabs hard onto the baseboards and stops the vacuum in it's tracks so edge cleaning is useless.
I've been dealing with this vacuum for about a year now and today I started to smell burnt hair. I have been cleaning the brush diligently but evidently hair got up into the bearing near the belt end and was also making the beater bar very warm also. The instruction book says to take it to a service center. Quote: "Do not attempt to disassemble the vacuum foot or remove the brush roll." Of course the brush roll is not covered under their 2 year warranty.
Bissell does not allow for anyone that has the mechanical skills the information to fix it or the ability to buy the parts. Lifetime belt? Yeah right!
I also noticed the lower plastic hose clip is bent and will no longer hold the hose.
Also the seal from the canister to the vacuum can get folded over, inverted, and creesed. Do not lift up with the canister handle if the vacuum is turned on such as when cleaning steps. It is my opinion this is how this happens.
For the $250 spent I would have expected more.
Pros: It sucks!
Cons: Heavy
QUALITY: It pulls up all the hair from my husky. Even on rugs that I couldn't get the hair off spraying with a hose.
FEATURES: Has all the tool I need. I like the power and brush control button placement that others have complained about. I can turn off the brush when going to a hard service or over a rug with out even breaking stride. A self retracting cord would be nice.
SUPPORT: Haven't had any problems so really can't say. I did get my rebate.
VALUE: GREAT VALUE! Just got my $50 rebate from Bissel. Purchased at Best Buy with a 20% off any vacuum internet coupon. Reg price $250 less 20% = $200 less the rebate ($50) = Final Price $150. (Glad I didn't pay $400 or $500 for another brand) I would still call this a good value at full price but I never buy anything at full price.
This is a full size vacuum so it is heavy but easy to carry up stairs using the container handle. Its a bit tippy but I haven't had it fall over at all. Its surprisingly quite and the suction is amazing and constant. I had to change the bag every time in my old vacuum as it would fill up with dog hair (and loose suction) so I like the bagless container. I empty it outside because like any bagless there will be some dust. (I used to change the bags outside too, so no problem for me.) I don't need to dust an hour after I vacuum anymore as this vacuum doesn't spray the fines back into the air. I was hesitant to buy a Bissel as I was not so impressed with my Bissel deep cleaner but I recommend this vacuum. The turbo brush on this vacuum actually works!. If you have a deep cleaner with a âturbo brushâ you know what I mean :(
Pros: can use on both bare and carpeted floors and has good suction
Cons: tip over easily, turbo brush belt always falls off, brush only works half the time, doesn't always turn on when the button is pushed
The price of this vacuum is unreal. I thought being that paying the extra price would mean that I would be getting an awesome vacuum. I bought a vacuum nearly 10 years ago and it's always worked fine. I've had this vacuum for 3 months and have had nothing but problems. I only purchaesed a newer vacuum because I was pregnant with my first child and thought this vacuum would provide a healthier environment. I don't notice a difference, plus this vacuum is a pain. I would not recommend buying it. In fact it's on it's way back to the store, where I will purchaes another brand. Please read the pros listed above.
Pros: It picks up the dog hair.
Cons: A little heavy
We have a Jack Russell that loves to shed. We have never been able to get all of the hair up off the carpet. Now that we have a baby that crawls all over the floor we really notice the hair. We decided we were going to get the Dyson Animal until we got to Home Depot, we had a discount coupon. We saw the Bissell, which was $300 less than the Dyson, so I did a search from my phone and noticed it had more good reviews than bad ones so we took a shot at it. Saved $300!
We got it home and it was easy to assemble. I took my dog and started playing with him and petting him in one area, looked real close at all the hair on the carpet, rubbed it in a little and vacuumed. All but 2 hairs were gone. AMAZING! We vacuumed the whole room and let our baby crawl all over with dark pants on and guess what, NO HAIR all over him. LOVE IT!
Now we did read how it was not the best to empty and people got the waste it all over themselves, my wife included. I advise everyone to read the directions. I love the one button release for the bottom, but if you have a lot of carpet fibers or really light particles you had best use the two button approach. Basically you can remove the whole canister and dump it in the trash, like most bagless vacuums.
As for the weight; it is a little heavy but for $300 less and the pet hair removal ability I think we can stand a few extra pounds.
I do wish, and maybe I haven't looked hard enough, they had the low profile attachment to get under our beds and low furniture but again I can live without it.
We give it an "A" and the only reason it's not an "A+" is becuse of the weight and no low profile attachment.
Pros: NOTHING
Cons: See my list
I purchased this vacuum to replace an old Hoover vacuum I had. I thought with the claimed that the hepa filter would be a plus and I thought that the microban protection that would eliminate the odor was a plus.
The vacuum has great suction but the brushes are always turning off. It doesn't have an auto adjust height so you always have to be turning the knob every time you go from carpet to bare floor or the brush stops working. All the on board tools and turbo brushes are always falling off the machine because they do not have a way to lock them on. Do not use the TurboBrush on fabric like upholstery because it will cut right though it.
The front where the brushes are have a rubber edge on it so it grips onto your baseboards and makes it difficult to get close to any side walls.
The Easy Empty Dirt container is the worst because you need three arms to get the dirt out. The hinge should be on the opposite end.
The microban antimicrobial protection is just a sponge that does not eliminate odor.
While youre vacuuming if you turn the handle almost 90 degrees the brushes stop so this makes it difficult to vacuum a hallway or tight spaces.
I tried to return the vacuum back to Linens and Things where I purchased it and they would not take it because it had been used. All and all I would not recommend it and Bissell should fire their designers that have probably never used a vacuum. Do not buy this product, you will be sorry.
