Pros: Cool period piece of nicely arranged instrumental covers

    Cons: Not Available !!!

This is another classic that everyone's dad had a copy of. Can't find it on CD anywhere! Nothing can duplicate the feeling of watching the phonograph needle and the red "SMASH" record label going round. Bill Justis serves up a very... hip collection of arrangements of period instrumental covers such as Take Five, Green Onions, Calcutta, etc. All the tunes are crisp and clean, and certain touches like subtle strings on "Take Five" , add a certain slickness to the album. All the tunes have a completely different flavor, so it's really fun to see what comes up next.Don't forget, we're talking 1962 here. OK, so there's nothing ground breaking or avante garde going on here, just a colorful slice of popular culture. Great lounge or background music. Your friends will certainly ask, "what is this?"
