Pros: on-screen commentary, feature commentary
Cons: the pausing when coming in and out of the on-screen commentary
This is my all-time favorite movie. I don't know what it is about it. I just love this movie. I don't know if it's the fact that I love wrestling documentaries, the on-screen commentary by Mick Foley and Jesse Ventura, or something else. I just can't get enough of this movie. Sure, it also helps that the first fifty times I watched this movie, I noticed a new person during the scenes that took place backstage at the WWE and ECW shows. This is a definate have for anybody that has ever liked wrestling at any point in their life.
No one has captured the true essence of professional wrestling the way Barry Blaustein did in this documentary. Why Vince McMahon doesn't want you to see this is beyond me (or maybe because Eric Bischoff is a nobody).
Blaustein should make a sequel as the wrestling world has completely changed in just one year after the film's release.
This is like something nobody has ever seen. It lets you inside and behind the scenes as to what pro wrestling really is, real people putting thier bodies on the line 365 days a year. Even if you don't like wrestling you will like this documentary.
This is a film destined to be there come oscar time. Barry Blaustein's labor of love is the first documentry to not focus as much on making a folly of pro wrestling but instead on the people behind the personas that make the sport special. We get a rare behind the scenes look at some of the most memorable characters to ever grace the squared circle. We see a rare glimse at Mick Foley the family man, Terry Funk the kindley uncle, and Jake Roberts, drug addict. We are able to see much that we haven't already seen such as the segment from the wrestling school where we see people learning the ropes and following the two top prospects from a weekend match to their try out in a dark match at WWF TV taping. If you were ever curious as to why Pro Wrestling is so special and why the Chracters are so loved, check this movie out you will certainly not be disappointed.
