    Great collection

    By avsbob  Dec 12, 2001

I recieved this CD in the mail (Ebay) the day Harrison died (I didn't know that yet). I listened to it after i heard the news and many of the songs still managed to put me in a good mood. A song like All Those Years Ago is a great example of taking... something that is very sad (Lennon's death) and instead of making a wholly depressing song Harrison creates a jumpy, poppy hit. I hadn't heard most of these songs before but loved 'em immediately.Unfortunatly this album is out of print but it is usually available at online auction places like Ebay. Harrison had said earlier this year that he was planning on re-releasing many of his previous works (as he did with All Things Must Pass). Hopefully his wife and son will still consider releasing this album and his other works again.from a Gen-Xer.God Bless You George. Om. Read more Less

  • All Music Guide

George Harrison's albums have been notoriously uneven, but despite the rough patches, his talent for songcraft never really left him, as the compilation The Best of Dark Horse (1976-1989) proves. A 15-song retrospective covering five albums, The Best of Dark Horse contains nearly every gem from 33 1/3, George Harrison, Somewhere in England, Gone Troppo, and Cloud Nine, including "Crackerbox Palace," "All Those Years Ago," "Got My Mind Set on You," "Cloud 9," "When We Was Fab," and the lovely "Blow Away." For most casual fans, the record will be a welcome summation of a hit-and-miss era of Harrison's career.

Biography

George Harrison

As lead guitarist for the Beatles, George Harrison provided the band with a lyrical style of playing in which every note mattered. Harrison was one of millions of young Britons inspired to take up the guitar by British skiffle king Lonnie Donegan's recording of "Rock Island Line." But he had more dedication than most, and with the encouragement of a slightly older schoo... Read more
