Pro Reviews: Best of the Merry-Go-Round

  • All Music Guide

A 14-song compilation of songs from their sole album, plus a few rare singles. Highlights include "Live," "Come Ride," "Time Will Show the Wiser" (covered by Fairport Convention on their first album), and especially the gorgeous, haunting string ballad "You're a Very Lovely Woman." Solid, melodic late-'60s pop-rock with sophisticated arrangements, though it's sometimes lightweight.
