Hey, what can I say. THE hip techno band of the early eighties. Take their best, and wowie, you get to pogo 'til dawn!!!

Pro Reviews: Best of Yaz

  • All Music Guide

The Best of Yaz does an excellent job of summarizing the synth-pop duo's singles, containing such hits as "Only You," "Ode to Boy," "Nobody's Diary," "Midnight," "Don't Go," "Mr. Blue," "Tuesday," "Winter Kills," and "Goodbye Seventies," plus a couple of rarities -- the American 12" mix of "Situation" and Richard Stannard's 1999 remix of "Only You" -- to attract longtime followers. That might be enough for some hardcore fans, who will already have the bulk of this material, but the collection remains an excellent choice for neophytes and casual fans.

Comprised of synthesizer player Vince Clarke and singer Alison Moyet, the group (originally called Yazoo) formed in 1981, after Clarke left Depeche Mode (Clarke had penned almost all of Depeche Mode's debut album, Speak Spell, including their early dancefloor hit "I Just Can't Get Enough"),... Read more
