    Pros: 'With Or Without You' is awesome!

    Cons: Where The Streets Have No Name (Terrible Edit)

    First of all, I'm a new fan of U2 & I've bought their second compilation, 'The Best Of 1990-2000'. Having heard & read so much about how great they were in the 1980s, I bought a second-hand copy of this to find out if their music live... up to the hype. Well, initially I was a little disappointed as only 'With Or Without You' & 'Where The Streets Have No Name' appealed to me while the music in general sounds a little dated. It's classic, but a little vintage. However, after more listens to it, I begin to feel more positive about this CD as other tracks start to grow in me. 'All I Want Is You' is a awesome power-ballad; I love 'Desire' for its harmonica outro & also the Edge's guitar work in 'New Year's Day'. 'Sunday Bloody Sunday' & 'Bad' are not too bad as well. Now I'm getting more & more interested in U2's music & I'm gonna get their other albums as well, especially their masterpiece 'The Joshua Tree' & ironically, their most heavily-criticised effort, 'Pop'.     This is the best collection of U2. The Beatles are not comparable to U2 because the Beatles were not from the 80's and they're not exactly in the same genre. Most of the songs on here are on the radio. Pride (In the Name of Love) and Where th...e Streets Have No Name are my favorites. Read more Less

    although this collection is good, it shows how crap all their new stuff (all since Rattle) is. They wanted to neglect 3 albums worth of mterial for this album because they knew their momentum died 3 years previous.

    It's hard to take such a vast collection of albums & put it in just one cd. I think U2 has done a pretty good job of it.THe Best of really does include most of my fav. U2 songs. I'm too big of a fan of U2 to get them all in 1 cd but this one is grea...t.Even better if you were lucky enough (like I was) to purchase this cd when it was first released when it included a bonus b-side cd with it, including various b-side singles that you couldn't get in one place before now.Great way for new U2 fans to get a taste of what they've been missing over the past 2 decades of amazing music.A must have for any true die hard U2 fan!
