Pros: fast, tight, and angry.

Cons: mix not so great.

"beneath the remains" and "inner self" are a couple of SEPs all time "greatest hits"(if you could be so glibb)....and definatley favorites among hardcore fans. they are also the first 2 tracks on the cd. the entire album... is blistering to say the least, and extremley animostic. the only negative in my opinion is the mix. the recording lacks the power that marks Sepultura's "hell-grinding" sound....but, overall, BTR is another great speed-metal/thrash recording with just enough "punkish" attitude to make even Sid Vicious sit up in his grave.....favorite tracks: BTR, inner-self, sarcastic existance and slaves of pain. This is for sure one of my all time favorite metal albums right next to Metallica's "Master Of Puppets", Slayer's "South Of Heaven", Testament's "The New Order", & Megadeth's "Peace Sells...". "Beneath The Remains" stands atleast 10 feet higher than ...any other Sepultura album in my opinion. "Schizophrenia" was a terrific album, but it just didn't catch my attention in uniqueness the way this album did. Every track on this cd is classic in it's own special way. Also, at the end of the album the listeners are treated to some kick ass rolling Igor solos while only accompanied by scratch guitar! This whole album is a drummer's wet dream, and Igor Cavalera is about the best out there(besides maybe Dave Lombardo). If you pride yourself whatsoever in collecting or tracking down truly awesome metal albums, make "Beneath The Remains" one of them...you won't regret it. Read more Less

This is thrash metal. While they had Max with them they were one of the best thrash metal bands off all time. The riffs are absolutely amazing. The music is some of the best songs i've ever heard. Max has some of the best vocals in heavy metal still ...today. Sepultura is one of the top bands ever. One of the best cd's of theirs I have heard. Metal forever! Read more Less

this is the best death album of all time, its closest competitor would probably be "ARISE" (also by sepultura...DUH!) the best song is probably INNER SELF, that has to be a metal classic.
