    This is an absolute must-have

Pros: Angry, cold, tight & dark

Cons: A little too tight at times

Prong is a great band, but this is their best record hands-down. Some of the youngins out there may scoff at the release date (1990 - were some of you even born?) But don't deny the pleasure that is this CD. A little ministry, a little bit old-sc...hool hardcore, a lot of New York grit. A 3-piece band where none of the musicians (Tommy, Mike & Ted) are exceptional, this lineup was nonetheless very tight as a unit. The vocals by Tommy Victor sound like someone's pissed-off dad that has no time for your petty whining. He grunts, he snarls, he sounds likes rolls his eyes in annoyance A LOT. The production is typical for the times, meaning it's a little thin in the bass range and the snare is loud as all heck, but it emphasizes the cold exactness they were going for. They do add some atmosphere on tracks like "Your Fear" and have the balls (by today's standards) to do an instrumental as cool and eerie as "Intermenstrual D.S.B.". The standout tracks are "Lost and Found", "Beg To Differ", and "Prime Cut". Vocally Tommy goes for the staccato thing a little too often and you almost wish he - and the record - would lighten up a little, but it doesn't happen. That may wear on some listeners who must have a "party" or "fun" track somewhere on their CDs. So if your like music heavy, cold and bleak with no posturing, no patience, and no bull, you will love this. After getting this one move onto the others, but do it quickly...in a recent interview Tommy Victor, who really IS Prong, says that he thinks this release is out of print. And for the record (no pun intended) I own this on cassette as I bought this record when it came out. I just felt the need to spread the love, especially since Prong just released a new CD. :) Read more Less

    No Way to Deny It

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jul 29, 2001

The thumping bass lines and sticatto rythyms make this music uncomprimising. Tommy and Ted maintain and carry the hard rockin thump, with more consistancy that Bad Brains or Suicidal could ever imagine. It's industrial/metal thump. The lyrical sty...le would come together on the next record with Troy (ex Flotsam basssit) Read more Less

    A great album!

If you are familiar with MTV's Headbanger's Ball, then it will be interesting to you that the music on this album was used for a while during the show.
