This is one of the most beautiful and exquisitely poetic romantic films of all time. Don't miss it if you love all-time great classics. It demands patience and understanding; some may be put off by the ingenious ending, but with those with the right kind of imagination, it ends perfectly.
The evanescence of a magical romance that lasts one night becomes a parallel to the evanescence of watching a great movie. Just like those all-time great classics, it has a beginning, middle and the inevitable end.

Boring, predictable, paint-by-the-numbers pap....
Gee, think he'll meet someone on the train? Oh, will that guy make a poem for them? Will the psychic do a reading for them? Will they have thier obligatory argument? Will she stop losing her accent?

"Before Sunrise" is one of the greatest movies I have ever seen. I too discovered it by accident about four months ago and I haven't forgotten it. It is conceivably the greatest movie romance I have ever seen. Yes, it is talky, plotless, inconsequential. And yet, as in Linklater's previous works ( the masterpiece "Slacker", "Dazed & Confused"), its absolute perfection lies in capturing, what Jesse (Ethan Hawke) in the film
describes as, the "poetry of day to day life". The film is very ambiguous and subjective and ultimately benefits from repeated viewings; each time I see it, I discover new things, certain emotional nuances I wasn't previously aware of. It resonates with me in a way I cannot put into words. But what I primarily love about the film is its astonishing simplicity, its honest manifestation of youthful innocence and splendour. I had never heard about this movie until one night when i saw it on TV. I was zapping around until sunnely a strange scene of a German couple dispuit called my attention... no wonder... a marking film was only starting... I have no doughts in descriving this film as my favourite film of all times... Intimist,inteligent,hones
t... see it... and let the dialogs and the Vienna sites take you to a journey in to the beauty of feelings... boy meets girl... and a 14 hours time romance leaves you forever feeling that love between sensible persons like Jesse and Celine is probably the supreme image of emotion... a magic moment... a tremendous film... a light in the dark... they talk about thougts, their ghosts, their lives..., and all very Intense and absoulutly Pure!
I'm in love with this movie...

This is a very good dialogue based movie. There are not many characters but the supporting characters give great performances while they are on screen. The two main characters though are the stars of the movie. They simply get it perfect and you feel almost as if it is actually happening as you are watching it on screen. Watch it several times and you will reveal more hidden gems each and every viewing.

I saw this movie on tv one evening, and there was an encore presentation, and i absolutely HAD to record it!! I was only 17 or so when seen it. And i immediately fell in love with the plot! It's how i always dreamed of falling in love, and it was just an excellent movie. Ethan Hawke is an awesome actor! Not to mention he's great looking!! I highly recommend this movie to anyone who loves a good love story!

we all have some romantic projections in our lives. If the movie reflect and portrait our dreams, why not see it as many times as possible. A good movie to see with our love ones.

This movie reminds me that romance is still alive. It is dialogue based and melow moving, but never loses your undivided attention. A beautiful and mystical romantic journey. Julie Delpy will charm your pants off.

What can I say other that this movie captured me! Ethan was very great in this movie. Julie was more of an Oscar deserver. To all those who haven't seen it, buy it then watch it. You won't need the recipt either!

I first saw it on TBS about a year ago and it has become one of my favorite movies. Ethan and Julie have great chemistry and really make the movie special and real. That is one of the reasons that I like it so much. The movie is so realistic. It seemed as if there was no script. It was so real and it renewed my hopes that something like that will happen to me one day because it happened to them. Before Sunrise is one of the best movies that I have ever seen!
