    Good Kind of Music

    I like a variety of music, from Counting Crows to Tal Bachman to matchbox twenty to Cake. I'm definitly a new Eels fan but I thought opinions would be appreciated from die-hard Eels fans and new ones as well. I give Beautiful Freak 5 stars because ...the music is worth listening to. It's original, and the vocals are articulate and good, which makes you think that the Eels are confident of their music ability, and they have every right to be! My favorite songs are Spunky, which is a sort of feel-good song, Flower, which sounds beautiful, Not Ready Yet, and Rags to Rags. The sound clip for Rags to Rags sucks, but it really is a good song. My Beloved Monster was featured in the movie Shrek! The title song is not really too great, but overall, none of the songs are a disappointment. Enjoy the Eels, because they're original and they deserve recognition as a talented group. Read more Less

    This is easily the best of their albums (out of the first 3 anyway) i cant tell you how good it is just go and buy it if you like,...........,well anything!

    A brilliant album with many stand out tracks, catchy melodies and thoughtful tunes. Short, sweet, deeply moving and one of the best albums for ages.
    Go buy it, it'll be the wisest decision you've ever made (well, almost)

    Beautiful FreakThe first and most popular of the Eels’ albums is quite simply perfect. Despite the small number of tracks, the band crams in as many instruments and ideas as is possible and blend them seamlessly into one of the best CDs of the 90’...s featuring many tunes and lyrics (most notably ‘Susan’s House’) that will stick in your head and make you sing them for weeks without ever getting annoying. Some people think that the Eels’ later works are better than this debut CD but I believe that this ranks along side any of their subsequent music and is an excellent introduction to the weird, and sometimes painfully sad world of the Eels.     i stumbled on an old album and decided to give it a try. my life has never been the same. the eels will pick you up, spin you around, and leave you gasping for more. if you EVER find a copy of beautiful freak.... buy it. you WONT regret it...

    A huge surprise

    I bought this record only hearing 'Novocaine for the Soul'. I was hoping the other songs were like it. But they weren't. I got something much better. Instead of the same catchy pop tune with twelve different lyrics, I got an unpredictable, unique, a...nd engrossing listening experience. I never expected to hear anything like 'Susan's House', 'Flower' (love this song) and the title track. Very worthwhile. Read more Less

    Just when it seems everything has been done something refreshing comes along and changes ones perception. This album did that to me drastically. Destined to be discovered for years to come.
