From AMG Reviews

Subtitled "The Rhythm and Blues Years," this highly enjoyable LP features the underrated and always cheerful singer Helen Humes in 1944 for four songs with Leonard Feather's Hip-tet (swing-oriented tunes that have been reissued on a Classics CD) and in 1950 with bands led by altoist Marshall Royal, drummer Roy Milton (a live date) and tenor great Dexter Gordon. Humes had a flexible style that could sound quite credible on blues, ballads, swing and early RB. Among the many superior numbers heard from the 1950 dates are "This Love of Mine," "He May Be Yours," "E-Baba-Le-Ba" and "Helen's Advice." Hopefully, all of this music will be reissued on CD.
