    Pros: It's not the same old slick country

    Cons: It's not the same old Kenny Chesney...

    But that's not really a bad thing, unless you just can't live without a KC album that has a catchy tune like Big Star. Be As You Are is all-island-all-the-time, and marks a departure from Kenny's past releases. Although, it should be note...d that he's been moving in this direction, starting with No Shoes. He went further with When the Sun Goes Down, and I believe this is the culmination. And I like it! My wife's favorite is Somewhere in the Sun; mine is Guitars, Tiki Bars (cause I would love to toss my cell phone and Blackberry.) I think we agree our least favorite is Key Lime Pie. My theory, now that he's rested and gotten this out of his system, is that his next album will return to "his" sound, i.e. Don't Happen Twice, Young, etc. Or maybe he'll take it in a totally new direction and do a Willie-and-Waylon-style Outlaw album. (Which I think, after hearing him do Luckenbach with Kid Rock, would be awesome!) So end result: buy the album and enjoy it for what it is, Kenny's vacation on the islands. Read more Less

    Pros: It's let's you see his real side without lettin' out all of his secrets. Not every artist can do that.

    Cons: I can't think of one. The album is a perfect mixture of Carribean/Country that let's you see his real loves in life.

    Country life fits him. Carribean life obviously fits him. On-the-road life fits him and he lives it all with a touch of grace. He's always classy and graceful with all of his music.     Pros: Takes me where I want to be when I close my eyes.

    Cons: None

    If you don't love the beach, if you are cynical or only like traditional country, you won't appreciate this album. I love the beach and everything about it. I dream of living there one day and becoming an "Island Girl." I have liste...ned to it over and over and appreciate it much more than an album about rednecks which I cannot identify with at all.     Pros: Therapy music,it takes me back to the real world were its whats in the heart that is all that matters.

    Cons: Dont have any.

    Im glad he stepped over the line and did what matters to himself.Shows me he's not all about the money and has the true talent to do so.

    Breezy love letter to island life

    As gratifying as it is to hear Chesney strip away the Nashville gloss of his earlier albums, it will take listeners with a high threshold for cynicism to enjoy this adulatory billet doux. The odes to joy grow tiresome by mid-album, and the singular f...ocus takes on the myopia of a religious awakening. One might be tempted to think that Chesney's adopting Jimmy Buffet's party life, but in reality he's more interested in swinging blissfully in a hammock. And while this contentedness is pleasant for a song or two, the happy-go-lucky beach bum's life lacks the drama needed to fuel lastingly compelling stories. The gentle production and light melodies are a nice turn, showing Chesney to be a gifted singer in addition to the star he's already proved himself to be. Buffet's fans are likely to find this hasn't enough grit or emotional depth to pique their interest, and Chesney's fans are going to be split among those who truly enjoy this breezy turn and those who wonder what happened to the singer's country roots. The rest of us will sip a few songs and then move on to something more substantial. 3-1/2 stars, if allowed fractional ratings. Read more Less

    As a Dance hall owner in Mississippi,Kenny has been to my establishment many times. this cd express his best when dealin with the tropical side of him . If you are a true kc fan this album is a must . Finally we get to hear him in a relaxed tropical ...mood . so if you feel like sitting in a blue chair ,put on the kenny and you will be in tropics on soft brezzes.A MUST HAVE Read more Less

    Pros: Excellent Music and Lyrics

    Cons: "small" con here.... but wish Kenny had replaced a new song/tune with that of the acoustic version of old blue chair.

    Kenny did a GREAT job with this latest composition of "island" tunes... It's the first album in some time that I find myself either listening too over and over again or humming the tunes when I'm not plugged into my iPOD.Keep it up ...Kenny, you've exceeded this fans expectations with some quality stuff in "be as you are".... oh, and by the way as far as pies go...     I am not at big country music fan, but I am a fan of the islands. We live near the beach and are always there. I can relate to the music and hope that he will do more of the same.

    Pros: it was cheap

    Cons: its not very good......

    sometimes people do silly things like cd its island music by a country singer. i have all his others and they were good as gold. Now after purchasing this cd the next one i will have to hear before i buy his next if i do. i was very disapointed the t...racks are not his usually kinda of music its mostly island music the only one i even kinda liked is keylime pie. its nothing to right home about i hope who's every idea this was is not aloud to do any more cd's. If i knew where to send it i send it back to him my wife another fan of him wanted me to take it back to the store and if i hadn't lost the reciept i would have very very disapointed in this cd for the record im a collector of music cd's have over 3000 cd's this one stains my collection Read more Less
