The fifth and final episode in the Planet of the Apes series. After the collapse of human civilization, a community of intelligent apes lives in harmony with a group of humans, but a community of mutants who reside beneath a destroyed city try to conquer those whom they perceive as enemies. Footage from the previous installments is effective in providing background information as flashbacks in an attempt to bring the series to a logical finish. A later television series attempted to rekindle original plotlines with newer ones.

    Solid Ending In Cinema

In this last chapter to the science fiction franchise in cinema Roddy McDowall as Caesar governs the specific subset of his breed as well as orangutangs and gorillas all of which have the intellect to surpass its previous status as primitive. With t...hat this series is inconsistent in detail since the introductory features did suggest that the removal of man from dominance on Earth was due to inherent tendencies which were detructive. In addition chimpanzees were not in positions of rule once the new civilization by simians would replace the previous regime. But still such discrepancies were not enough to stop this series from becoming the phenomenom it once was for pop culture in the West. As always tension due to disagreement between ape and human occur to add excitement in addition to conflict within the simian community itself as Claude Akins as Aldo conspires in conjunction with his troops to eliminate Caesar and therefore peace with the humans who serve in the village. This therefore illustrates and reitirates the notion that "Planet Of The Apes" and "Beneath The Planet Of The Apes" would first address which were the issues of bigotry belligerence and hypocricy. However the struggles with the issues in question is now by those who are taught and place in effect that "ape shall never kill ape". Former pop music sensation Paul Williams appears as an immediate assistant to McDowall and produces more charm as an orangutang than Maurice Evans could allow himself to do as Zaius. Severn Darden as Kolp strains as the villian who assumes the role as leader of the subterranean force in the ruins whose descendants become the mutants we witness in "Beneath The Planet Of The Apes". Still- hope flickers for an alternate future as John Huston brings the series to its close on the big screen. In 1974 CBS brought its adaptation of "Planet Of The Apes" to television and with McDowall as one of its principal cast members. Although the show was on air for just fourteen weeks the episodes did well once in syndication and James Naughton who as Astronaut Burke was another member to that cast for the series claims he still receives "fan mail from all over the world". Finally NBC brought its interpretation of the franchise to Saturday morning in cartoon form from 1975 to 1976. Now if 20th Century Fox were to read this they should then capitilize on the demand for both shows by releasing them on VHS and/or DVD formats just as the studios did for the full length feature films.
