    Holy Special Edition, Batman!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Mar 19, 2002

This camp-filled movie packs so much punch that not only can you hear them, but you can read them. Adam West and Burt Ward prove that they're still the best dynamic duo; not those retards George Clooney and Chris O'Donnell. So remember, kids. Don't ...forget to watch Batman. Same Bat time, same Bat channel. Read more Less

With tongue firmly planted in cheek

I bought this DVD because I had remembered the TV series and this seldom played movie as a child. I remember wanting to be Batman when I was growing up in the late 60's-early 70's. This movie has all the elements of the TV show(although I do miss the... classic Batman theme)and is a fun movie for children and their parents. The dialogue was actually well written with the intent not to take the characters, situations,in general the movie as a whole very seriously. It becomes even more interesting when Adam West and Burt Ward give commentary during the playback of the movie in the commentary section of the DVD. The transfer to DVD makes the picture sharper and the colors brighter. Beautiful. However,I did'nt see any music videos added to the DVD as advertised. That's fine anyway, however. Now,if only Warners could give Tim Burton's "Batman",the deluxe treatment it deserves,Bat-fans would have real reason to rejoice. Classic camp at its best. Read more Less

    almost the best ever

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Aug 20, 2001

Unlike another reviewer I watched the movie and can READ the credits. Catwoman is not Lindsay Wagner but former Miss America Lee Merriwether. The only true catwoman was Julie Newmar (although Eartha Kitt wasn't bad). And that's why the movie is on...ly ALMOST the best ever. That and the lack of more of the long-time villans from the TV show. If it was good enough for the entire Law library at the University of Wyoming to break from study for half an hour each week, it is definitely worth a look. The youth of today will have fun poking holes in the cheesy special effects, but their parents will watch it and remember the good old days, when sex was dirty and the air was clean! All in all, this is a true family video. Keep an eye out for the scene where Batman tries to dispose a bomb but is thwarted every which way by the Salvos, children, and a family of ducks--it's a classic!!!!!! Read more Less

The definitive campy movie of the 60's

By Yahoo! Shopping User  May 21, 2000

The original Batman and Robin movie starring Adam West as Batman and Burt Ward as his faithful copatriot Robin defines the term "campy" in movie lingo. You might think you're watching an episode of "Before They Were Stars..." when you see former Mis...s America Lindsay Wagner strut her stuff in black leather, slinky as ever as "Catwoman", aka Miss Kitka. The final bell hasn't sounded for "Mick" either, as Burgess Meredith Waddles through this 1 hour and 40 minute splash as the ever-grunting Penguin. If you ever watched the original tv episodes, this movie will surely take you back as Commisioner Gordon reaches for the blinking red "Batphone", as Chief O'Hara waits for his cue to utter the infamous line...saints preserve us...and the commiss..."the sum of that rectangle is so devastating I scarce can give it utterance.." A United Underworld consisting of Penguin, Catwoman, Riddler (played by the ever cackling Frank Gorshin) and the painted face of the king of the tricks, the Joker, played by Caesar Romero, is the goal of the bad guys in this flick. But fear not..."Atomic Batteries to Power, turbines to speed..." and our caped crusaders are off to save the world from sure destruction. All the toys are displayed, from the Batmobile to the Batcopter, from the Anti-Shark Bat Spray to the labeled bat cave (that's right, the water fountain must be labeled, or its just not campy enough...)this movie brings out all the tricks from the tv series. You'll marvel at GP1-5 (guinnea pigs 1-5, of course, yo-ho-ho!), the "crash" landing onto the bed of foam rubber..."A miracle Robin, to land on a bed of foam rubber, yes, but yet I did th Read more Less

    Superb bit of high-camp!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Feb 28, 2000

Adam West is in nearly top form (despite flabby gut) as Batman in this very silly film made after the first season of the t.v. series. Chintzy special effects and cardboard sets enhance the camp value greatly. Due to other obligations, Julie Newmar ...could not portray Catwoman, so this movie is slightly marred by the unremarkable performance of Lee Meriwether. Actually film is too short to really make adequate use of the other villains, though it's great to see them all in one place. "Some days you just can't get rid of a bomb" scene is a standout. Vastly more entertaining than the sulky, leaden Batman movies of the late '80s, though not as good as the series at its best. Read more Less

You must be stupid to see this movie. I saw it years ago on HBO and I thought it was stupid. Nothing good about it. I thought that the batman cartoon was better then this junk.
