Sorry Batman fanatics, this movies a real snoozer. Michael Keaton is NOT Batman, hes more like a commercial for prozac gone awry. Nicholson is appropriately over the top, the music is excellent.......but overall its just too damn long and boring.

    Best Storyline

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jun 11, 2005

    Pros: Storyline

    Cons: special effects

This movie was made a while ago (1989 I do believe) so if you are looking for a movie with state-of-the-art special effects....then maybe you should look elsewhere. But, having said that, I must now go on to say that the storyline of this movie is wo...nderful! You truly begin to understand Bruce Wayne (a.k.a Batman) and the struggles he first went through when he began his crime fighting in Gothom. The Joker is portrayed in a way that no cartoon, nor even the original Batman Series, could have shown him as: a psycotic killer whose fall into acid left him not only phisically, but mentally deranged. And Batman is no longer a care free, fun loving crime fighter, but a hero who is on a mission to avenge the deaths of his parents. The fight scenes were rather corny in the beginning, with Batman raising his arms as if to show off his wings, but as the fight scenes grow larger, they achieve a more realistic feeling until the final show-down has you rooting for Batman to kick some butt! This movie does take on a more serious tone. This is one of the things that I find very appealing. You don't usually find people making strange and foolish puns while they are trying to fight someone (unless, of course, you're the Joker), and the serious tone truly adds to the drama and life of the characters. Oh, and by the way....the music ROCKS! Read more Less

    Best Batman Movie Ever!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Mar 8, 2003

This is without a doubt the best Batman film ever made. Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson are perfect for their role in this film. Cool decorative scene where the Joker is having a parade and then went under siege by his people. The joker had makeup ...similar to the original but it more amazing and brighter. The black suit used for Batman was much better than the blue outfit used in the original Batman in 1960s version but this is 100 times much better. Great perfomance and the story and plot is fantastic. The music was cool but Prince did the Soundtrack to this film. Tim Burton was very creative in directing this film. It was a huge hit in 1989. All other later Batman films didn't match the success of this film. This is one of the best films of the 80s. A must have in your movie collection. Read more Less

    GREAT MOVIE

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Feb 13, 2003

THIS IS DIFFENTLY THE BEST COMIC BOOK MOVIE OF ALL TIME. BECAUSE IT WASN'T ALL KIDDIE LIKE. DIDN'T HAVE ALL THESE FAKE LOOKING COSTUMES AND FAKE SETS. IT ALL LOOKED VERY COOL. AND NOBODY COULD HAVE DONE A BETTER JOB AS BATMAN LIKE MICHAEL KEATON.

    A landmark!!!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Oct 24, 2002

Everybody in the last few years has talked about how great X-Men, Blade & Spider-man were and how they legitimized comic-book based films. Now, these are all films I love, but has everybody forgotten about Batman! Sure, Joely-Joel ruined the series..., but Burton made it great, and THE Batman film started it. They didn't call it the movie of the decade for nothing. The greatest comic book film ever made, and they're are a lot of them. This is one of my top 5 favorites of all time. Read more Less

    The only one I have!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Sep 7, 2002

This is the only one of the series of followingsequals I have!! Plenty of action, suspense, giggles from Joker Nicholson. Great for kids, and adults, who like Batman in general. I like the fact that Jack breaks into gigglesat any given moment for no r...eason! And his eyes are always half closed!!!" Come on you gruesome son of a *****!. Come to me!!!" Read more Less

If there's only one Batman movie to watch, this is it. Outstanding performances by Jack Nicholson and Michael Keaton make this one a superhero milestone.
