Someone tell George Clooney he needs to go back to playing bit roles in comedies like Roseanne. He has neither the screen presence nor acting ability to carry this off, much less for anone to even care about the character. Arnold, go back to the terminator where you dont have to show any acting ability or emotion. overall, this movie just sucks!

Just as bad as Batman Forever

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Mar 9, 2003

Despite some good cover art and special effects, the direction of the film is flawed and it didn't really have anything to do with the first one. The acting is not that great either. It has a more mainstream feel. The music sucks played by some mallcore band. It feels like nobody wants to waste time watching this awful film since this one was a joke compare to the original one released in 1989.

JOhnny Rock fucks retards, first of all. Secondly, Steve and Mike Adams are the "Banger Brothers." Jimm Hewitt is E.T. Last but not least, Justo Gomez has sex with hot girls cuz he tells me he does. Also, this movie sucks.

The Dark Night hangs its cape in shame

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Aug 17, 2002

Dont blame the special effects for this movie (even though they were mediocre) blame the plot and the casting. Clooney as Batman? Yeah right. Hell Sean Connery would have been more believable as Batman. At least he can act. You better stick at what you do best Clooney, pretending to heal people. The only believable actor portraying Batman was and always will be Keaton. Kilmer wasn't as bad as Clooney but he have a more boyish feel and didnt seem to be dark and mysterious. And what the hell did Joel Schumacher was thinking? Batman is supposed to have a dark gothic feeling to it. With all the neons and lights, how will The Dark Knight lurked in the shadows. We need Burton back. Since when did the Bat Mobile has hydrulic? We need Keaton and Burton back. Also whats a Burton movie without Danny Elfman? For anyone that does not know him, he is the musical genius for movies such as Batman, Spider-man, Sleepy Hollow, and countless more; oh yeah and lets not forget the theme for The Simpsons. Lets hope the fifth installment of Batman will welcome back Burton along with other originals. I could have done something more productive rather than waste about 90 minutes of my life watching this. In the words of the Comic Book guy from the Simpsons, "worst episode ever."

Death of the Batman Movie Franchise

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Mar 19, 2002

And we have Joel Schumacher and George Clooney to blame. Such a shame that the Batman franchise had to suffer the same fate as the Superman movies.

    The Dark Not...

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Sep 30, 2001

Ouch. The "Batman" series hits rock bottom. Tim Burton and Michael Keaton are long gone, and in their wake are hacks, merely churning out yet another profit busting and soda pop pushing sequel. Think I'm kidding? Consider this: "Batman and Robin" is the fourth Batman movie and featuring George Clooney as the third consecutive actor to play Batman. One splits, and another falls right into place without missing a beat. Clooney's a fine actor - but he's lost in a role which is increasingly about The Suit. By this standard, James Bond is Hamlet as the actor is at least required to bring something to the role. But let's not kid ourselves, "Batman and Robin" isn't about acting, plot, or entertainment.
Instead, it's a money machine that has been designed to funnel large amounts of loot to Warner Bros. No more, no less.
As such, this isn't even that good. I don't have a problem with moving a few happy meals or action figures off the shelves, but rarely have I felt as pandered to as with "Batman and Robin". This is, in effect, a children's movie - something the first two definetly weren't. Adults will find little value here, save maybe a few hours worth of quiet timeas the colors and cartoon action washes over their kids.
Maybe in that context I'm too hard on "Batman and Robin". As a kids film, this is no more offensive than say "Pokemon" or anything of the so-called "junk" I probably sat my parents through when I was a kid. I mean, none of the characters are particularly menacing - least of all a positively jovial Arnold Schwartzenegger as Mister Freeze - but we're miles away from anything even resembling drama.
If anything, "Batman and Robin" make the first two films look like works of art. They weren't perfect - not by a long shot - but there was at least an honest attempt to create something different and even challenge an audience. With "Batman and Robin" the only challenge is sitting through the damn thing.

I warned them not to but NOO! They HAD to cast George Clooney, and See what happened? Very Corny punchlines, so so acting (Thanx Arnold, you too Clooney) and lackluster script Combine to make this Batman Movie to be one of the worst in the entire series.

Don't get me wrong....I love Batman...I've been a fan since I was a kid...But this movie stinks.. What where they thinking..Batman is not a colorful upbeat story....Its about a boy who saw his parents die in front of him..I hated the one liners....But I don't blame the actors at all...Its the the script that sinks..The actors did there best...Why is eveything so colorful..its like a comic book movie come to life....I hated it!!! I'm worried about the spiderman movie comming out..I hope they make it dark...And the new batman movie better be dark too..fans of Batman watch the first two batmans...Don't watch this....I'll buy this movie ONLY cause I collect batman stuff.

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Apr 12, 2001

George Clooney is wallpaper. Robin...no comment. Bane's brilliance lacks to the point of incompetency. Uma Thurman is perfect for Poison Ivy, but the script ruined the character. A role that should have gone to Patrick Stewart, Mr. Freeze, was ruined by Arnold Schwarzenegger. The new comer that makes up the dynamic trio is Alicia Silverstone as Batgirl. Silverstone did a good job and her ass in a rubber suit helped greatly. Joel Shumacher, however, delivered the death blow to the series with this film.

Why does everyone hate this film?

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Mar 22, 2001

Yes, it's moronic. Yes, it's overdone, but how does that make it any different from hits like ID4 and Armageddon. Personally, I'd rather watch this film. Clooney is soooo charismatic as Batman. Much better than Kilmer. Schwarzenegger is funny, Thurman is sexy and Silverstone's Batgirl is worth the price of admission alone! Ok, so Schumacher can't direct, but so what? I found this to be the most enjoyable of the Bat-sequels. Batman Returns just didn't capture the spirit of Batman, and Batman Forever wasted Tommy Lee Jones and had the boring Val Kilmer in it. I really liked this movie. I think I must be the only one though!

THE REAL BATMAN WILL RISE AGAIN

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Feb 8, 2001

This film sounded the death knell for the immortal Batman, it sucked on so much batshit. But true believers never fear, ive just heard the greatest news. The brilliant, talented new director Darren Aronofsky (Pi, Requiem For A Dream) will be directing the new Batman film in colaboration with the original Dark Knight Returns writer Frank Miller. Sounds too good to be true, but if it happens then we can leave crud like this in the dust as a dumb bad memory. Schumacher you c**t.

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jan 21, 2001

Not the best and last of Batman movies. Batman was meant to be dark not neon. Keaton was always the better batman, Kilmer and Clooney were just alright. The bad part is that why did they change the role of Barbara/batgirl into alfred niece's. Barbara was supposedly the Commish's daughter. Total screw up.

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Apr 15, 2000

If you think I am joking watch it. This film defines the phrase camp, I expected to see big comic style kapows and kurrunch'es to appear at any moment during the fight scenes. I would rather pay monet for the Adam West movie than for this. Clooney was a terrible Batman, O'Donnel settled into his role as robin the same way a slob settles into an armchair and refuse to get up even to go to the bathroom and the only actors bothering to act (Alfred and Gordon) are deliberately kept to a minimum. Believability is stretched to breaking point, then straight past it to the point where you have to slap your own face after watching it to regain any sense of reality. The script is awful, the story could have been written as a 5 year olds homework and the special effects are obvious and poor. Is it coincidence that the film took a fraction of what was expected? Is it coincidence that the studio are considering bringing back Burton and Keaton for th fifth movie, if the company ever recovers enough from this fiasco to make it? I even hear that if Schumaker gets to keep directing they'll be holding an axe over his head regarding quality. And I swear that if we see one more person discover Batmans secret identity we'll either see a spate of critics up clocktowers with rifles with photographs of every one responsible beside them, or a cemetary full of test audience victims who just can't take any more. Batman and Robin? Batman is flopping more like.

    Batman Digression

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Mar 21, 2000 | 1 out of 2 found this Batman & Robin (1997) review helpful

Batman and Robin is the worst movie of the decade. The superfluous fluff of Batman on ice sinks the once proud franchise. This movie will be held with the likes of Alien3. The malevolently genius and tormented Val Kilmer Batman exists no more and that is unfortunate...

    The Worst Batman Movie

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Feb 27, 2000

I loved the cast: Arnold Schwarzenegger was cool and funny, George Clooney wasn't bad, Alicia Silverstone is hot, Uma Thurman is also good, and Chris O'Donnell is brilliant. Only the movie is very slow and bad, it has no clue. The special effects aren't bad, but they were better in the first 3 parts.

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jan 21, 2000

I'd add that if Tim Burton can't be on this movie, then perhaps a fleet of monkeys with type writers could take the place of the current directors. Although, at least for the next movie, I think that they should take its entire budget and spend it on retribution to the studio's fans. . . and that's all I have to say about that

    Holy Bat-Garbage, Batman!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jan 9, 2000

The 1-line summary says it all. Bad acting, awful direction, cheesy sets, rancid direction, horrid neon trash, groanably horrible 1-liners, no plot, etc. Please, if there is ANY mercy at all, kick Joel Schumacher and Akiva Goldsman out of the Bat-Franchise and bring back Tim Burton!! Or if Burton ain't interested in returning, at least consult him. I'm surprised that there ain't a "Zero stars" option, because that's what I would give this pathetic excuse for a movie.
