Pros: amazing features set with echo and delay
Cons: can't find the tuning resistor
I purchased this barbie jam karaoke keytar for 10 bucks at a local flea market. it is incredible. the headset with microphone utilizes a decent delay/echo circuit, common to these toys. the barbie song is excellent and has already provided hours of enjoyement. while i was unable to find the tuning circuit (replacing a resistor to change the clock speed at which the internal sampler runs), i found a great glitch point that feeds back the song output, while leaving the vocal mike unaffected. end result, lame pop songs with horrific distortion and feedback, coupled with a clean heavy echo delay vocal through the head set. i am very impressed. i am sure there are other bend points on this piece, but they may be difficult to find. i recommend this toy for kids as is, or for a circuit bender looking for a solid hackable machine. at worst, the knobs and string triggers are worth hacking. pretty much anything barbie is a bender's dream. rock out kids! ...
