    Oops Spike Did It Again

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Aug 14, 2001

Spike Lee has created another masterpiece.
There is not enough that you can say about
this film, not only is it a great movie, but
it is a great history lesson.Bamboozled tells
it like it is, and how it was. Spike does a
great job in capturing the realness, and fakenes of the entertainment industry. Great
acting, great music, and great visuals, make
    this movie a MUST SEE.

Couldn't Have Said It Betta' Myself!!!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jul 19, 2001

This movie has done obviously what everyone else has been afraid to do...speak the truth! When a movie makes you angry but you can laugh, cry and DO understand, or just plain want it to never end, you know it's good! It was a history lesson as well as another wake up call. A call for African Americans to stop being so acceptive of the roles we are 'allowed' to play in Hollywood. And to pay more attention to were we put ratings. We are just as responsible for how people see us if we allow the wrong images to continue being broadcast. I found the excerpts of Good Times and Jimmy Walkers' infamous "Dynomiiiiiiiite" and The Jeffersons' with George (Sherman Hemsley, I think), and that ridiculous walk he would do. It just makes you think! But it was an excellent, awesome way to help in understanding even why the movie was titled Bamboozled. Although, Good Times is my all time favorite sitcom, along with the Fat Albert cartoons, which Lee also injected splotches and sketches, it is always important to remember that someone behind the scenes is thinking about selling and creating more controversial and even stereotypical images. Bravo Mr. Lee!!!! I could not have said it betta' myself. You have taken my respect for you to a whole new plateau! Much love and respect. May you never bite your tongue, and always keep it real!

    It's one in a million

By Yahoo! Shopping User  May 31, 2001

It takes a lot of understanding and a lot of courage to sit through one of Spike Lee’s films. One
scene can mean many things, and unfortunately can be misconstrued as either races, or even
hatful. I like to call his work truthful. Lee takes historical information and brings it to life, like
no else can. Bamboozled is a prime example of that. It tells the truth about Hollywood and
there beliefs towards Black actors and actress. He did this also in “Girl 6." In Bamboozled, Lee
leaves what I call a personal message to The famous cloth designer Tommy “H” Many African
American Males by products like Tommy, and other high price brand name cloths, However,
many of those African American Males refuse to buy their own children milk or pampers. Lee is
saying something in all of his films, something deep, something powerful, and something
heartfelt. I watch Bamboozled, in shock (Because of Lee’s amazing talent), in relief (Finally
someone has said it), And in gratitude (for standing up on his own two feet.)

    Should be required watching

By Yahoo! Shopping User  May 29, 2001

A brilliant film that manages to be both insightful and entertaining - arguably Spike's best work ever. Both a look at the effect of minstrel shows on modern art and the state of entertainment today, it also holds a mirror to our own hidden race views. The dvd offers extra value in terms of Spike's commentary, showing where he has mellowed since Do The Right Thing and where he hasn't.

I couldn't stop thinking about this film of Tommy Davidson's brilliant performance in it. Although this film was the victim of a modern boycott, I think it should be shown in every high school in America. Easily as important as Schindler's List or Saving Private Ryan. If nothing else, you'll never see Tommy Hilfiger the same way again. This isn't an easy or simple film, and it takes an understanding of what a satire is. However, this is easily the most rewarding film you will see this year, and possibly next.

The film leaves you with the image of Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney putting on blackface. Although everyone in the film has turned in a career performance, the montage this clip comes from is enough to knock you off your feet on it's own. Think about how ingrained minstrel entertainment was to allow that to occur and then think about what we watch today.

    Not For ME

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Apr 26, 2001

There are very few movies I cannot sit thru on DVD. If the movie is bad sometimes the sound effects and picture keep me entertained. This movie had NOTHING going for it. I forced myself to watch the first 60 minutes and I gave up on the last 70 minutes. Maybe thats where the good stuff was, but I was not waiting around ANY LONGER FOR IT. tHAT WAS A WASTE OF 4 BUCKS.
