In Disney's spectacularly animated forest fable, a fawn named Bambi is born, destined to become "Prince of the Forest." He soon befriends other woodland creatures such as Flower, a bashful skunk, and Thumper, an outgoing rabbit. As the years pass, they encounter a number of life's lessons in the woods, including the death of Bambi's mother at the hands of hunters. Eventually, Bambi comes of age, completing the cycle of life and taking his father's place.

Based on the classic novel by Felix Salten, BAMBI demonstrates the strength of family values and camaraderie. Director David Hand adds a mixture of great songs and life-like backgrounds to make this early Disney film an unforgettable film classic for all ages.

I loved this as a child, and my children adored the video over, and over again. Now my grandchildren have learned to love it. It entertains without the vulgarity that permeates the media today. The characters are cute and funny. The only problem is ...that Disney injects human thought and emotion into his characters to such a degree that people begin believing that the animals care deeply for each other.(evidenced in the film "Lion King" when Mufasso tells his son that the animals don't mind having their throats ripped out and being devoured because they realize that it's all part of the circle of life.(not a quote) Bambi also makes hunters look like crazed killers out to shoot anything that moves. Most of the pictures coming out of Hollywood have carried on in this tradition of portaying hunters in this jaded and unsavory role, since the introduction of "Bambi". Being a longtime hunter and an instructor in hunter safety I find this inaccurrate and insulting. ASIDE from that sore spot this is a delightful picture for the entire family. I would like to know Bambi's dad's bloodlines though, as Bambi is a white tail deer and his dad looks to be a deer-caribou or elk mix. Oh well. Thumper is the real star anyhow. Dan Read more Less
