To coincide with their summerlong slot on ~Lollapalooza '92, AM issued a limited edition 2-disc set of their breakthrough 1991 album 'Badmotorfinger, ' entitled 'Badmotorfinger/SOMMS.' The first CD was identical to the original 'Badmotorfinger' release, but the 2nd disc was comprised of 5 rarities - most previously issued only in the U.K. as b-sides. The band had always been vocal about their broad listening tastes and influences, which is evidenced by their choice of covers - Devo's "Girl U Want," The Rolling Stones' "Stray Cat Blues," and Black Sabbath's "Into the Void" (the latter featured Sab's music, but the lyrics are from Chief Sealth). Also included is a brief, breakneck Chris Cornell original entitled "She's A Politician," and a meandering live take of "Slaves Bulldozers" (the 3rd track on 'Badmotorfinger'). Since the 2-CD set was only issued in an extremely limited run, it became very hard to find soonafter, fetching high prices from die-hard Soundgarden fans.
