Cons: very retro to the point you would think that some of the music was really old.
The soft retro sounds of this album allow for the strong introduction of Amy Winehouse's exceptional voice. She sounds like a 50 something year old ex-jazz smoker that smokes 2 packs a day but instead she is a vivrant sexy British woman who is quite young. Despite her young appearence they are a deception that covers the soul of someone who's emotions run as deep as an old soul. An absolutely phenominal album and definately worth its buck.

Even though Amy Winehouse is a rowdy and conflicted person her music does not fail to capture people. She has been compared to her fellow British singers like Lily Allen and Joss Stone and has a voice that is distinct from today's pop culture.I brought Amy Winehouse's and Joss Stone's new album the same week and saw the difference between the two. Amy Winehouse and Joss Stone share one common bond and that is their love for American R&B and soul music.At the same time their music is similar and different they both wanted a throwback back in time sound. Unlike Joss Stone, Amy Winehouse has succeeded in just her sophmore album. Her music is easy to listen too and does not try to blend anything too contemporary in it. Her lyrics maybe too problematic but it is honest and blends well with her music but she not only does songs relating to her problems she shows a softer side to her by doing some ballads. Her background vocals are excellent and did not fail. People have tried to compare Amy Winehouse and Joss Stone by their vocal talents to me I believe they can sing but with Joss Stone sometimes she tends to lack control of her voice and screeches when she tries to reach her high notes and hold her notes and screams too much to try deliver a song and I think has a hard time deviating whenever she sings a song she sounds the same all the time it doesn't matter if the beat is different.Whereas with Amy she has full control of her voice and can sound soulful easily without even trying to scream or hold a note knows how to deviate and capture you if she belts. These are just observations I have made .Overall I believe Amy has just started a new change in music and soon everyone might want to have the same quality of music like her. The production was tight and classy and I believe is the winner album of the year!! Let's just hope she will out for a long time!

After reading a bit about Amy Winehouse's antics in the British press, I decided to listen and see what all the fuss was about...and I was absolutely thrilled to find myself listening to an album that could have been made during the height of Motown's popularity. If you enjoy classic R&B, look no further than this album. You'll think that it's 1964 and you're cruising around in your t-bird convertible, listening to am radio! Highly recommended!

I listened to her entire album "Back to Black" and its brilliant. Her voice is so different but not new. She sounds like she has an old soul. I love her album all around and I wish her the best and I look forward to more like this.
