One of the first compilations charting the increasing appeal of the Cyprus hot spot for clubbing vacationers (instead of the usually crowded Ibiza), Ayia Napa Discovered also shows what makes the music so different. Instead of laid-back trip-hop crossover and spiritless trance, the music played in Ayia Napa clubs looks back to the glory days of disco. The two-disc set hits plenty of tracks heard in both Ibiza and Ayia Napa (like ATB, Moloko, Sunship, or Bump Flex), but focuses more on high-impact house and British garage. There's a nice impression of Stardust by Cappricio and an apt impression of Sylvester by Powerhouse, but most of all a focus on energy and fun lacking in the hordes of Ibiza compilations bulging the racks out in most record stores.
