    This is one of the best war films ever made and certainly the best performances of all the cast!I saw this movie one time, on t.v., many years ago and it i never forgot what an impact it had on me. The realism of this film is years ahead of it's ...time.I've been waiting for years for it to go on DVD and now it is. If your a war film buff don't pass this up! Read more Less

    A superb cast and a gripping story make 'Attack' one of the best war movies of all time. Eddie Albert is marvellous as the spineless bully Cooney who cowers between his swaggering superior Bartlett (Lee Marvin) and his tough subordinate Costa (Jack ...Palance). Marvin is at his best & nastiest as the grinning Bartlett who cheerfully ignores the shortcomings of Cooney to maintain his own personal peacetime aspirations. Palance, so often viewed as an acting lightweight gives a massive performance as Costa, who unlike Tom Hank's saintly Captain Miller in 'Saving Private Ryan' is every bit as vicious as Cooney and Bartlett (which becomes apparent when two German troops are captured). WW2 purists may by annoyed at the sight of the German troops attacking in poorly disguised American vehicles, but this aside, 'Attack' is a genuine classic. Read more Less
