Mexican pop/rock foursome Atómica started touring Mexico City's club circuit in 1996. Formed by girls who shared a passion for Europop and Latin rock, Atómica was previously known as Las Hormigas. After teaming up with local producer Jorge Amaro, the band's debut album was recorded and released by BMG in March 2000, featuring the hit single "El Viaje."
