    Atomic

I've listened to all of Lit's CDs, Tripping the Light Fantastic, A Place in the Sun, and Atomic. Although that all of they are great, this, by far, has to be the best. There is something for everyone on this CD. A.Jay's awesome, frat-boy-like voice, ...Jeremy's incredible guitar skills, Kevin's intricate bass riffs, and Al's fast-paced drumming make for an incredible CD. "Addicted" seems to be the sequel to "Miserable," with A.Jay singing "I'm so addicted to you, and you're such a dick to me." Most of the lyrics are delivered with a nudge and a wink, and everything is tied together with clever, joking wordplay. In "Sunny Weather," A.Jay says, "I've got alot of good drugs, but I don't know how to use them, so I threw them in the trash, and now my dogs are high as hell." "Happy in the Meantime" is new experience for the band, because it's their only acoustic track ever. All in all, it's probably the best album out there. Get it, I guarantee that you won't regret it! This CD is pretty cool for the most part. There are a couple songs I could do without, but that goes for many people with many CDs I suppose. Lit does a great job on this album. Its not as good as A Place in the Sun but is more fun to listen to than ...Tripping the Light Fantastic. I would recommend this one for anyone who liked A Place in the Sun. Read more Less

Let me be the first to say that Lit is not that bad. They're a good punk-pop band, lacking the emotional pull of Weezer, but also lacking the frat-boy hijinks of Blink 182, so it all kind of balances out in the end. Like most punk-pop bands, they survive on a blend of energy, attitude, and craft, not innovation, which isn't a bad thing if all you're looking for is a good little rock roll record, like their third album, Atomic. Yes, it's not as pure as a Weezer record (which seems to be the template for most of this album) nor is it as wildly imaginative as a Supergrass album or as solid as a Green Day platter, but the band rocks pretty hard throughout the album and they have pretty catchy hooks. It's not something that will convert doubters, even with lyrics as clever as "I'm so addicted to you/And you're such a dick to me" (Beavis and Butt-Head couldn't have topped that), but it's done well and performed with conviction. Essentially, Lit is a journeyman punk-pop band, lacking any rea...l distinctions, but they do their job well, without much muss or fuss, and without innovating. That's not a problem, really, since if you want just a good, solid modern punk-pop platter, Atomic fits the bill. - Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide Read more Less
