Definetly the best of the GC collection

If you're a Galactic Cowboys fan, I'm sure you'll agree with me when I say that "At the End of the Day" is their best project to date. If you've never heard of Galactic Cowboys, then this is the album you need to give a spin first. The Galactic Cowbo...ys sound consists of a moderate speed heavy metal sound backed with rich, distorted bass. Vocally, they mix in rich melodies ala McCartney/Lenon. If you're a beatle worshiper, yet you love the sound of a gold ole grunting heavy metal riff, then this is the ultimate sound to tickle your ear. With their latest release, "At the End of the Day", GC has really been able to pull it together lyrically and musically. The songs are well written and really flow well together. Definetly the best of the GC collection. Read more Less

  • All Music Guide

Houston's Galactic Cowboys appear to be flying on auto-pilot for much of 1998's At the End of the Day, making this album interesting to long-time fans only. The raging "Nothing to Say" is probably the record's only exceptional track, and though the seven-song "Machine Fish Suite" has its bright moments ("Mr. Magnet," "Never Understand"), it is generally unspectacular. The record also includes departing founding member and drummer Alan Doss taking his first lead vocal on the gloomy "Through," and the band closes with the eerie instrumental title track "Outer Space."

Galactic Cowboys

Bassist Monty Colvin and drummer Alan Doss first played together in Houston in a band called the Awful Truth. When it split up, Colvin and Doss recruited vocalist Ben Huggins and guitarist Dane Sonnier to form the Galactic Cowboys. Signed soon after by DGC, the metallic rock combo released a self-titled debut in 1991 and Space in Your Face two years later. Following the... Read more
