Pros: When it works as it should, it does a good job.
Cons: All too often, it does not work as it should.
I would not recommend this recorder. The interface (menus, displays, commands) is confused and confusing as well as inconsistent, the User's Manual is frequently incomprehensible and occasionally wrong, and the recorder sometimes spontaneously changes some 'permanent' settings. On top of that, there are two important functions that I
cannot perform on my AD-8091: insertion of 'chapter markers' at points chosen by the user, and 'go to' a user-specified time-point in the current title. These functions should be available in every +R recorder and the User's Manual asserts that they are available in the AD-8091. In the three months since I bought this device, I called Aspire several times (at my expense - they don't have a toll-free number) but they have not solved the problem. All I get from them is

Pros: Has a lot of capability for the price
Cons: Manual leaves a lot to be desired. Needs to be more clear to outline a clear and positive procedure to perform each specific function.
The unit seems to perform well but to perform the functions as outlined leaves much to be desired. It must be cinsidered that not all of the users are proficient to the degree that is required to operate this unit. A clearer and more precise procedure would help even though the procedure might seem unnecessary to the skilled user.Other than that, I feel that the unit is worthy of a high rating for the price. In competition with the more pricier units, it would be rated as fair. I tried to contact the company on several occasions but was never able to contact anyone.
