Asleep at the Wheel: Live at Billy Bob's (2005)

Since forming in 1969, Asleep at the Wheel has won nine Grammy Awards and established itself as a favorite act among western swing bands. Though they got their start in Paw Paw, West Virginia, Asleep at the Wheel quickly found its home in Austin, Texas, where audiences welcomed their signature sound of country, jazz, rock, and blues. The band originally consisted of Ray Benson, Lucky Oceans, and Leroy Preston, with Benson going on to build a successful solo career with 2003's BEYOND TIME. This concert, which took place on April 18th, 2003, at Texan venue Billy Bob's, includes a new lineup of David Miller, Jason Roberts, Haydn Vitera, David Sanger, John Micheal Whitby, Jim Murphy, and the only remainder from the original lineup, Ray Benson. Performing 17 songs, the group displays the onstage appeal that gained them praise from such music legends as Willie Nelson, Van Morrison, Bob Dylan, and George Strait throughout the 1970s.
