Synopsis: Arthur (1981)

Arthur is a sweet, somewhat pathetic character whose millions have left him lonely and with no motivation in life. Arthur is on the threshold of an arranged marriage with a simpering socialite, whom he does not love. Everyone expects Arthur to behave himself, but nobody truly cares for his well-being, with the exception of father-figure butler Hobson and blue-collar...
Arthur is a sweet, somewhat pathetic character whose millions have left him lonely and with no motivation in life. Arthur is on the threshold of an arranged marriage with a simpering socialite, whom he does not love. Everyone expects Arthur to behave himself, but nobody truly cares for his well-being, with the exception of father-figure butler Hobson and blue-collar shoplifter Linda Marolla. Arthur would prefer to marry the lowly Morolla, but his iron-willed grandmother threatens to pull the plug on his huge inheritance if he doesn't honor his position in life and go through with his marriage.

    A MUST FOR ANY MOVIE COLLECTION

    Pros: Hilarious - one you will always remember and go back to!!

    Cons: NONE

    This has to be one of the best comedy movies ever made. Dudley Moore is amazing in this movie and so is Sir John Gielgud. I actually don't like Liza Minnelli that much as an actress but she is amazing as well. The story is perfect. The acting... is supurb. This is a movie that grabs you and makes you laugh and cry. I sure wish there were more movies out there like this one!!!!!!!!!!!!! So sorry that Mr. Moore and Sir. Gielgud are no longer with us. I for one am saddened that they are not here to make us laugh or cry anymore! Read more Less

    One of the funniests of the past 20 yrs

    If you are down, you'll be picked up. If you are sad, happiness will come about. You'll be laughing hysterically for years to come.I have seen this comedy over 50 times and still laugh evertime I remember a line from the movie.Can anyone top this co...medy? Let me know. Read more Less
