It's good to hear that "one of a kind" sound from Journey again. A band like this should never be at rest! Continue the Journey!

i guess i am a journey purist like this other reviewer who hates the "arrival" album. i love steve perry and although steve augeri sounds like him and is a wonderful singer in his own right, it's just not the same. i've seen augeri twice in concert (number three coming next month) and i agree that in concert he can't hit the same notes that steve perry could on certain songs. i don't know what some of you other reviewers are talking about, but stever augeri definitely DOES NOT have the same range and versatility as steve perry. as far as perry's voice being shot is concerned, i don't know....never heard him live, but i thought trial by fire was a wonderful album and still showed his dominance vocally. i wrote in another review for "the essential journey" that i feel "trial by fire" was perry's best vocal performance as a whole on an album. i know many will disagree with me, but listen to "one more" and then go to "easy to fall" and you should see what i mean. overall, "arrival" was good, i like it it's, eh, ok....the lyrical aspect took a HUGE hit without perry around, but are they a cover band of themselves? no, although it is true about perry making them who they were, without neal or jon, journey wouldn't have been the same. neal is THE BEST guitarist i've ever heard and jon can write and play one mean piano. so journey's core is basically the same....they are still journey since neal was one of the "founding members"

this has got to be their best album since Escape and Frontiers. The songs especially "kiss Me Softly, Signs of Life,To be Alive Again,Higher Place are my personal favorites. The first single All the Way is a good track as well. In my opinion the band made the right decision in replacing Perry who has stated on occasion how uncomftable he is being in the public spolight.Arrival is by far a better album then the last studio album with Perry Trial By Fire was a album dominated by ballads i like ballads but a whole album is a little much. I also feel that Perry's voice that was great in the 80's is "shot" now his perforance on the For the Love of Strange Medicine Tour was proof enough for me after the second song his voice was gone his backing band would have to break into instrumental jams while Perry took breaks most likely to take steroid shots to his throat. His perforance on Trail By Fire was even worse it is appaent that he can't hit the notes anymore and I believe that was the main rason he was replaced.Now for Steve Augeri a great singer much as Perry was in his prime came to Journey after stints in Tall Stories and Tyketto. Augeri is an underappreciated talent who is hungry and ready to do whatever it takes to make it. I see a bright future for this "new" journey Arrival is just the beginning

sorry to the other poster who posted Steve perry is the original singer. He was not the original singer for Journey. Steve was the second singer to join the band.

being a huge steve perry fan, i just couldnt bring myself to listen to this new CD. for soooo long i denied that journey could continue without steve perry. i actually came to it more by accident than anything. and i must admit, it is fantastic. this new lead singer sounds sooo much like steve, although not COMPLETELY. but, with even that aside, i was able to really get into every song on this CD. i am glad that they were able to move on... even if it is without the original steve!!!

I don't care much for the new cd.It's hard to believe that journey would leave Perry out and go ahead with this cover band singer who can't sing perry's high notes.A true fan would know what i am talking about.If they don't know what i am talking about Faithfully Augeri can't sing high.He sucks.This so-called singer is a temp fix.I say in 3 years Perry will be back.Neal you should have known better when Smitty and Valory was gone on R O R.Now put up with what the people have to say.Journey's concert sales only sell cause of the past music.Arrival sucks ,they are trying to bring back the 80's music and doing that arrival does not do the time warp for me.Maybe they could have brought in Dee Snider cause the next hit is going to be WE'RE NOT GOING TO MAKE IT.Written By Neal Schon ,Jon Cain,M Schon

I think it's great that these guys keep rockin. However, let's not ever forget that Journey wouldn't have been what it was without Steve Perry.
The man brought Journey to the world, not vice versa. In fact, Perry would have been just as successful in any band -and in fact was.
Please find another band name. 'Journey' without Steve Perry is not 'Journey', but only a cover band of itself. Stop running the name into the ground. Leave it alone. Let Journey be remembered as the success it was, and not as some fading athlete trying to hold on to the past.
Steve Perry in my opinion is the greatest singer ever. Perry set the standard, as did the ones before him; Sam Cooke, Aretha, Ella, Marvin, and etc..Was this review helpful? Yes - NoVery Impressive
When I started listening to more then R&B, Journey was one of the groups I thought had that High Enrgey sound that I wanted. This CD took me back to those days. I can't wait to see them in consert or on DVD.

Saw journey in concert last night thought they were the greatest, loved the new album when they did 3 cuts live. had seats 15 rows back.
bought cd today and listened to whole thing. they could have done better. I would not buy this cd if I had know most of the songs were ballads or slow, I love it when journey rocks.
New singer is great on all the old stuff. sounds just like steve perry but with more get up and go. I do not really like the new album but the concert was great.Was this review helpful? Yes - NoJourney Arrival
After viewing VH1's Behind the Music about Journey I was very disappointed with Steve Perry's attitude. When I found out that Journey had replaced him with Steve Augierri and I heard the "new" Steve sing I was very impressed. As soon as the CD came out I was there to buy it (which I don't normally do). Took it home, set the volume cranking and loved every beat, riff, hook and croon. Steve Augierri has more depth and range than Steve Perry does which could send Journey to places never visited. Then I went and saw them at the Daytona Beach Ocean Center. I am in love with Journey all over again!

Not since the early days of Steve Perry have I heard a Collection of songs that are so wonderful. Steve Augeri has the style and range that Perry had with Journey. The group is definitly back and better than ever. "All the way" is a beautiful love song! It should be playing at every radio station around. If you are a Journey fan you will not be dissappointed and if you aren't you are in for a musical experience that is worlds apart! Journey truly has Arrived with Arrival.

I was right, Arrival could not even stay on the Bill Board Top 100 charts for 1 month. I guess that goes to show you that most fans do not appreciate bands who replace a good original thing with a try-to-be duplicate. Arrival could have been big for Journey. If they were going to get a new lead singer they should have tried for a new and different sound. But I think we all know that they should have waited for Perry.

Journey's newest cd continues their tradition of producing awesome soundtracks. This latest cd offers something for everyone from rockin songs to ballads.
