    a perfect metal album

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jan 8, 2007

Pros: fast, heavy, tight, great mix, strong vocal attack...

    Cons: none.

Sepultura have become rulers in the metal realm. Arise, in my opinion is their "crowning achievment" following close behind, "chaos AD" and "roots".... earlier albums offer some good material, but are also under-produced.... "beneath the remains" and "schizo" are well written, tight and heavy, but need alot of help from your EQ (depending on the sound your looking for). anyhow, "arise" is a dark and disturbing monument that towers over many in the caverns of metal.....the drum tracks are fast and tight with uncompromising power and double base bursts. Max's vocals are commanding and violent, like Hells own drill sargent. and of course the grinding guitar riffs are tight and hypnotic...the other great thing about this cd, is the consistant transition from song to song...gives the entire cd a concrete musical foundation. from the haunting intro of "arise" to the slamming fallout of "infected voice", this album is unrelenting in its delivery.... turn it up, and dodge the pounding!!!!!! Arise and Infectecd Voice are the heaviest songs on the CD. Right now I have Dead Embryonic Cells stuck in my head while I typed this review. Great thrash!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Oct 4, 2002

Maybe not as good as Beneath the Remains, but still, awesome, fast, old-school thrash metal from the boys in Brazil! Too bad they don't still sound like this! Will Sepultura return?

The Best Metal album I have ever heard..

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jul 22, 2002

This album rarely ever leaves my car or home CD changer. I take it out for about 1-2 days, then its back in there for 12 months. Everything single song rips. This album is number 1 with Megadeth's Rust in Peace, Slayer's Seasons in the Abyss, Pant...era's Vulgar Display of Power, and sentimental favorite Iron Maiden's Piece of Mind are all second place compared to this one. It's just fukkin awesome. Read more Less

    Second best

By Yahoo! Shopping User  May 23, 2002

Don't let their modern, Korn-like sound fool you, these guys are offical. Check out Arise. Some say they used too many samples, and the production was too fancy, but every song was planned to the measure. Back in 91/92, I listened to this alblum e...very day, a real classic. Truly the best poppy death/thrash metal there is; they created it the sound that was to come. Read more Less

    The best Sepultura album period.

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Nov 27, 2001

The first Sepultura album I heard was "Beneath The Remains". People say usually that when it comes to metal, the first album of the band that you hear will always be your favorite. Well, not in this case. As soon as i put this album in I was hooked. ...Everything about it is better to me than Beneath The Remains. The guitar rhythms, the bass, the drumming(much props to Igor for his brilliant as hell drumming), and Max's now much clearer vocals. All in all, this is pretty much their best album, atleast in my eyes. My favorite tracks are Desperate Cry, Under Siege, & Dead Embryonic Cells. I also recommend checking out Schizophrenia (their 2nd album). It kicks ass as well! Read more Less

    ARISE

this one is very similar to beneath the remains, but its probably the better album. ARISE and DEAD EMBRYONIC CELLS are the best songs.
