    I spent tons of time researching MP3 players. I even borrowed units from friends to get better aquainted with the ease of use. I found that the Archos is very easy to use, even if you aren't electronically inclined. The software takes you step by... step, I added 800 songs to my unit in about an hour. The big test was a 9 hour car trip - What a great thing to have along! The headphones wrap around the back of your head and are comfortable enough to sleep in. The LCD is backlit so I didn't have to worry about turning on any interior car lights. Now I am just waiting for Archos to produce a link to my car stereo using the cd player - Read more Less

    Unreliable performance

    Pros: Worked as an external hard drive -- great for storing files. Was great for ripping sound bytes from any digital signal. Good equalizer.

    Cons: Response time on buttons was bad. Often reboots for no reason. Shutdown/Power on would lag. Response time when openning directories was slow.

    I had originally bought this device to use as a walkman for my runs. After finding the transferability of files extemely easy (drag and drop), I began to use this as an external hard drive. A short time after owning it, the deivce would boot up and i...n the middle of playing the first song, it would immediatly shut down. This was extremely annoying, as I'd have to wait through the boot process for my songs to play (while running). Also, the buttons would not respond all time.I personally wish that I had invested in an IPod now, even though it makes you use the ITunes software to upload songs.Currently, my Archos Jukebox FM recorder 20GB MP3 Player is broken. I have no idea what happend or caused it. I was riding my bike while on vacation and all of a sudden, the song I was listening to began to skip. I shut it down and rebooted. Once the OS was loaded, a clicking sound began. I turned it off and tried turing it on several times since, with no luck (the clicking persists). I assume the hard drive just took a dive.
