Although Pereza does not like to be compared to bands like Tequila or Los Rodríguez, the truth is that for the needed musical references, it is not possible to overlook the similarities with the before mentioned groups (listen to the beginning of "Súper Hermanas"). It is obvious that this band from Madrid perfectly embodies the 80's Spanish rock image and, being so evident (and maybe too excessive), it seems necessary to split this strong image from their music. Something commendable of this album is that, in its polarized style between rock/pop and soft pop, it gets some good material from both genres. The pop we have become accustomed along their career reflects the most superficial difficulties and bitterness of love, typically of the adolescent. Within this style we find "Dos Gotas", "Margot" (with Iván Ferreiro participating in the background sounds) or "Estrella Polar" (with the collaboration of Juan Aguirre). Contrary to what it would seem, this adolescent pop works, but it goes... as deep as this juvenile market can digest, excepting for the song "Por Mi Tripa", which relates a story about the addiction to cocaine. It is welcome, though, to hear some rocky guitars even in such silky songs like "Tristeza", but it is recommended to avoid this kind of songs if you have ever wondered about the meaning of life. On the other hand, it looks like the contributions of figures like producer Nigel Walker (whose collaborations include Bob Dylan, Tom Petty or Aerosmith) and, above all Mick Taylor (The Rolling Stones' guitarist in the first half of the 70's) have influence on songs like "Grupis" or "Súper Hermanas" where an resemblance to the first Rolling Stones is evident (specially in the second half of "Súper Hermanas"). To conclude, it is possible to add a third category in the style of this Pereza's fourth studio album, and this would be the emptysongs genre, with two or three chords repeated to the infinity and lyrics you forget once listened. Within this forgettable group of songs we find "Frágiles" o "Beatles", this latter a tribute to the Liverpool quartet with a ridiculous final touch "She's got a ticket to ride / but she don't care". - Alfonso Goiriz, All Music Guide Read more Less
