The new super-slim iPod once again redefines what a digital music player should be. It’s lighter than 2 CDs, can hold up to 7500 songs, and downloads music at blazing speeds. Now you can take your entire music collection with you wherever you go. It is available for both Mac and Windows.

A lighter thinner model

Smaller than ever (just 0.62 inches thick), the new iPod fits comfortably in the palm of your hand and slips easily into your pocket — and your life. At 6.2 ounces, it weighs less than 2 compact discs, and even many cell phones. And yet the iPod gives you a huge 40GB hard drive.

Ahead-of-the-curve design

Once again, Apple turns the portable digital music player market on its ear with hassle-free functionality and stunning, well-considered design that place iPod far ahead of the curve and the competition. Building on the success of the touch wheel (which made scrolling through an entire music collection quick and easy), the new iPod has been re-engineered with a all-touch interface for enhanced durability and sensitivity. With an LCD screen and buttons that feature a backlight for clear visibility in low-light conditions, iPod is designed for easy one-handed operation. So the best way to take an entire music collection anywhere is now even better.

Downloads done right

The perfect companion to iPod, the iTunes Music Store is a groundbreaking new way to preview, buy and download music. Within a minute of finding a song you like, you can own it. Make unlimited playlists, burn individual songs to CD as many times as you like, and take all your music with you.

High fidelity

Designed to give you the best portable digital music experience ever, the iPod delivers the highest sound quality from input to output. iPod supports the most popular audio formats — including MP3 (up to 320 kbps), MP3 Variable Bit Rate (VBR) and WAV — giving you access to a wide range of audio file types. And iPod is the only portable digital music player that supports the AAC format (Mac-only), which features CD-quality audio in smaller file sizes than MP3, so that even more songs fit on your iPod.

More ways to have fun

The iPod now lets you do a whole lot more in addition to maintaining your contacts, calendar and to-do lists. iPod now includes Solitaire, Brick and Parachute, three great games you can play anywhere (a feature you’re sure to appreciate the next time you’re standing in line or waiting for someone). You can even use your own music as the soundtrack to a game. iPod also includes a notes reader that lets you download text-based information and read it on the screen. This way you can have the information you need — on everything from restaurant reviews to nightlife guides, and from news articles to exercise routines — at your fingertips.

The perfect travel companion

The iPod features a sleep timer, so you can fall asleep to your music. And with the iPod’s new alarm clock, you can choose either an alarm tone or your favorite music to wake you up.

    Best of Class

    Pros: User Interface, Design, Capacity

    Cons: Price, Drivers on XP

As a stand-alone music source, the iPod is absolutely best of class. The User Interface is a paradigm that all other hardware/ software vendors should emulate - very intuitive after the first ten seconds of use. Using iTunes to either buy music or ...import songs from existing CDs is also well thought-out; very easy to use, and with the FireWire connection, extremely fast to sync with the iPod. Smart Playlists are another great idea. My one gripe is that the iPod will probably wind up costing me money, because my 40Gb model holds *too much* music - even at 224 sampling rate, I've only used up about 10Gb for about 200 CDs. Time to buy some more music! One issue I'm experiencing now is a driver incompatibility - apparently when the iPod is docked and powers down, it causes some instability in Windows XP. Still some troubleshooting to do here, but only a minor annoyance, and one probably more due to XP than anything else. Read more Less

    Worth the money

Pros: Lots of accessories for even more convenience

    Cons: Strange PC Issues

LOVE IT! It's sleek and functional and has an excellent array of accessories. The sound from the headphones is crystal clear. The cons: The battery doesn't last as long as it states - but there is a battery pack that offers 15 hours of time, e...ven though it's a bit bulky. Also, it's shiny silver back scratches almost instantly so it doesn't feel like a new toy for long! The software I use with it (I-tunes) is so-so. I originally used MusicMatch Jukebox which was faster to convert music onto the I-Pod and super-easy to make playlists but it mysteriously stopped recognizing my I-Pod.The big issue - and hopefully it's not a common one - is the strange PC issues. For unexplained reasons, I-tunes will disconnect my I-Pod and I'm forced to reboot my computer frequently in order for it to see the I-Pod again. I've tried the suggestion in tech support to no avail.Overall, it's money well spent! Read more Less
