Cons: does not support full syncing with smartphones
After my iBook I decided to get an iMac. I priced out a Dell, HP, and Gateway, feature for feature and for the money it doesn't get any better than this. Plus I am running Windows XP, so it's like getting 2 computers in one. I highly recommend the iMac to anyone looking for a computer that will work right out of the box, and has all the basic software you need. For the tech savvy, there's XCode, Perl, Automatic Scripting, and the underlying Unix OS that can let you modify the system. ...

Pros: speed, osx, ease of use, reliability
Cons: hard drive difficult to upgrade
I bought this imac about 2 weeks ago. Before this I was strictly a winxp user. I will never buy another microsoft product. It took me about a day to pretty well understand osx. I have never used it before. But once you understand it you realize how ridiculous winxp is. I have no problems with spam, viruses, and any of that stuff. No frequent updates to deal with. Security is 1000x times better. It is much easier to set up a network. I was able to use my old printer and scanner. The imac makes also no noise.
The software is adequate. I downloaded
openoffice for free. The downside is you have to learn to use a lot of new programs. Some of the winxp programs are better. If you are a heavy gamer
forget this machine. You can't upgrade the machine easily. Especially troubling is the difficultly with upgrading the harddrive which usually will break down. But these problems are nothing
in comparison with winxp freezing up all the time and slowing down to a crawl when updating. Mac os is a unix machine where all root codes are password protected, a very difficult environment for viruses and spam. It is intrinsically better. ...
