Simply start up iChat AV, click your buddy's video icon and you're ready to chat with sight and sound - with up to three friends at once5. Proper attire suggested.
Now showing
With iMac, you've got the best seat in the house. The full-screen Front Row media experience - with its intuitive menus, large text and brilliant graphics - lets you browse the music, photos, and videos on your iMac as easily as you browse music on your iPod. Cons: Because it's a Mac, doesn't work with some PC programs
I have owned the iMac Intel Duel-Core desktop for a week and a half, and I must say, it is MUCH faster than any PC, despite the fact that it is only a 2.0 Ghz processor, but since it has the duel-core technology, it acts as a 4.0 Ghz processor. BLAZING SPEEDS. I was really surprised at the graphics on this computer, the Macintosh's we have at school are outdated, and the graphics aren't the best, but these new Intel Mac's Apple is rolling out are amazing. I think the most unappealing thing is that since it is only a 2.0 Ghz processor, people will be intimidated NOT to buy it, but since it runs on Apple's Mac OS X software, it doesn't not operating the same as with a PC. I think it is a good thing that Apple makes all it's hardware and software, because this way, they can make the best products out there. It is VERY easy to attach external peripherals to it, most printers and digital cameras have the driver already built into the computer software. Also, iLife '06 is an amazing suite of software, that may cost hundreds of dollars for the PC. Even though the screen is built into the computer, it has an AMAZING resolution. it is capable of viewing 720p high definition data. Also, it comes with an awesome DVD burner which will burn CD-R's, CD-RW's, DVD-R, DVD R, DVD_ R, and DVD-DL. Also, it includes a built in iSight camera to take stupid pictures of yourself when you are bored. I would say this computer is well over worth your money. My PC day's are through, Mac has made it with me. AppleCare is not essential if you think that you are not going to have any problems, but it is good compared to the warranty plan many retail stores offer. ...

Pros: Fast, user friendly and beautiful.
Cons: Software still catching up to the new machine.
The new imac with intel is a great stand alone machine and, as software races to catch up to the new machine, is becoming an obvious choice for those who want great hardware and a great operating system. Some uncertainty lingered around the unveiling of the new machine in early 2006, when we bought our new imac, but we went ahead and purchased it anyway (with intel). There were some problems with the software at first and even the dreaded "blue screen," but since the earliest updates everything has been running smoothly - no problems whatsoever. And, the software designed for the machine is becoming ever more integrated and faster than a regular user could ever need, really. For those waiting to see if the Intel thing is gonna work or not - it works. Go ahead and buy. I haven't tried bootcamp beta (which supposedly opens up windows, if you own it). So, for me, games for the mac (the lack of which has been the drawback for many) is still a sore point. But, these four months on this great mac has been nothing but bliss (after the intitial software updates, that is). Our rebates took a few weeks to get to us, so be prepared to wait on those. Also, Office (with its update) is running smoothly, now, though, as I understand it, still through Rosetta, so expect minor delays when opening it. The iLife package rocks. ...
