Pros: Flexibility
Cons: N/A
I have had my powerbook for alittle over a month now and I have not been able to find anything wrong with it. It works great, it's size makes it very portable, and it has yet to give me any trouble.
Let me also add that this is the first mac I have ever had. And I found making the PC-to-mac switch very smooth. I also bought a wireless mouse, an airport express and an ipod, all of them work perfectly and connect seamlessly to my powerbook.
If your thinking about getting a new laptop this is for you.
Pros: my first and only computer
Cons: i don't see any!!!!!
i've owned this 12 inch for 6 months and learn something new every day. i have a new apperation for the Power Book G4 it's a wonderful tool!!! can't say a enough about the Power Book G4
Pros: A true portable with power.
Cons: none
This is my 4th Apple laptop. I've had a 1400, an orange clamshell iBook, a 12 in. iBook, and now the 12 inch PowerBook, I went with the 12 because of portability. The iLife apps. (iTunes, iMovie, iPhoto) Microsoft Office, Photoshop and Safari all run flawlessly. One impressive feature is hooking the PowerBook up to my 42 inch plasma TV and streaming music into iTunes from an iMac in my office, via a wireless airport network. The sound is not as great as listening to a DVD, but when you turn on the Visualizer the resulting light show will take you back to the 70s.
Pros: Small and light, good battery life, definitley cool with aluminum case
Cons: Software not as plenty...but whats included actually works great!
Hello there, this review is on the 12" Apple powerbook G4, and this is my first Apple computer. The reasons I wanted to switch are as follows: Security from internet viruses, and multimedia applications.
One startling thing I found out about Apples are that they are not affected by viruses, if fact I could not find over about 2 viruses out there that might affect it. And it isnt due to the fact that there isnt anyone writing them, there are viruses for Linux and the other off-brand OS's. I guess I didnt like installing the weekly (sometimes daily) MIcrosoft Internet Explorere Security update and patches. After the worm viruses of late, I decided it was time to switch.
The software package included is excellent, Apple calls it the iLife. The photo, video, and DVD burning (this computer has a DVD-R drive as well) programs are well integrated, and actually work without fail, which is something I had problems with the compatibility of the Windows products with my last PC.
The OS X operating system is very fluid, hasnt crashed, and is very intuitive to use. For not knowing the nuances of an apple, I have caught on very quickly.
This computer weighs about 4 1/2 pounds, much lighter than the 7 lbs I had with my Toshiba Satellite. It is 1" thick, and the aluminum case is really stylish, plus the DVD burner is quite an achievement in a computer this small, and for 1700 odd dollars.
