Because this set was produced by the leaders of Steely Dan (Walter Becker and Donald Fagen) for Warner Brothers during a period when that label rarely recorded jazz, this LP received more publicity than expected. The two distinctive tenors of Pete Christlieb and Warne Marsh (backed by pianist Lou Levy, bassist Jim Hughart and drummer Nick Ceroli) are in combative form for the enjoyable blowing session. Joe Roccisano contributed charts for four of the six songs but the main points of interest are the strong tenor solos. It's worth searching for and long overdue for reissue.
