I've watched this film several times. I am a Denzel Washington fan. However, after seeing this movie, I have become a Derek Luke admirer. He was great in this film. He was so convincing in his role as Antwone Fisher. The poem that he recited in this movie, "Who will cry for the boy?",was so emotional. I have cried and will cry again for the boy, the boy inside the man everytime I see this movie. I definitely give this film a 5 star rating. Excellent work by all!

GROWING UP IN A FATHERLESS HOUSE MADE ME REALLY APPRECIATE THIS MOVIE. IF IT HAD NOT BEEN FOR MY GRANDMOTHER, I WOULD HAVE PROBABLY BEEN IN A FOSTOR HOME. I WAS NEVER ABUSED AS A CHILD, BUT I CAN RELATE TO ANTWONE IN A LOT OF WAYS. I ALSO JOINED THE NAVY AFTER HIGH SCHOOL. I JOINED TO MAKE MYSELF A BETTER PERSON. I HAVE ACHIEVED MY DREAMS. I REALLY LOVE THIS MOVIE. NO MATTER HOW MUCH MONEY THIS MOVIE WAS PREDICTED TO MAKE, THE MORAL OF THE MOVIE IS WHAT MATTERS. WELL DONE MR. WASHINGTON FOR GIVING SOME FUTURE STARS A CHANCE TO SHOW OFF THEIR TALENT TO THE WORLD.

This movie was so touching. I am an active duty member of the US Navy and find some relation with Mr. Antwone Fisher. He, Derek Luke and of course Mr. Denzel Washington are awesome and blessed human beings.

A wonderful color-blind story of ones ability to begin to trust others and with support, overcome adversity.This first effort at directing by Denzel Washington features unknown actors that more then prove their worth. I cant wait to watch it over and over again. As a psychotherapist, I intend to recommend it to many of my clients.

Overall this movie held my attention. The dialoge is slow in some spots and some important scenes lacked dramatics. Derek Luke and Denzel work well together though and the ending makes you feel like you glad you saw this film.The movie also lacked a musical score in a lot of scenes and for a inspiring film there isn't a theme song or title track.A okay movie that could have been better but I still suggest you go see it.
