  • All Music Guide

This EP offers up one tune from the Ponys' fine 2005 album Celebration Castle along with five nonLP cuts, and while "Another Wound" certainly sounds like the hit single in this context, that's not to say that the other tunes are just along for the ride. The Jesus and Mary Chainesque "Good Good Things", the hard charging "Looking Out A Mirror", and the poppyinspiteofitself "I Wanna Fuck You" would have added to the batting average of either of the Ponys' two long players, and demonstrate the band's trademark approach of garage rock melodies married to postpunk guitar skronk in high style. Fans who liked both Laced with Romance and Celebration Castle can get more where that came from on Another Wound, while the uninitiated looking for a bitesized sampler will find this a worthwhile introduction.
