Pros: Volume Three is still only part of this amazing show's first season.
Cons: The features were lacking, as usual.
Who out there remembers the days of afternoon cartoons? Coming home from school, and turning on the tv first thing, getting a cold drink, some snacks and other things, enjoying a much needed break from the rut that was school. Well, sadly, those days are long gone (except of course on Cartoon Network and its little brother on digital cable, the Boomerang network). The catch is that Boomerang is only on digital cable. Cartoon Network is on regular cable. But all Cartoon Network has is a bunch of flash in the pan cartoons. There is next to nothing on that network that lasts very long. Everything else seems to be japanime or some sterilized American version of said programming.
Well, for those of you who actually remember the days of real after school cartoons (and especially those of you who wish you were still that young), those zany Warner Brothers, and their sister, Dot, bring all of those memories back yet again with their third volume of classic Warner Brothers style comedy. The show first hit tv screens in the 1990's. But it very openly paid tribute to the brand of cartoons created by the geniuses who created the original Looney Tunes cartoons. The difference? While Looney Tunes cartoons were originally intended for adults, these zany kids...or are they dogs....or maybe monkeys?(Only Animaniacs fans will get this reference) were intended wholly for kids. However, tehre were some references that only parents would get in some shorts. There are plenty of sight gags, references to tv shows and movies, and so much more.
The Warners aren't the only plus to this third wonderful collection of one of America's most underrated comedic teams. They return yet again with all of their friends, including: The Hip Hippos, The Goodfeathers, Buttons and Mindy, Slappy and Skippy, Dr. Scratchinsniff, and of course that famed megalomaniacal mouse, The Brain and his brainless British buddy, Pinky among others.
What fans of this show already know is that this may already be Volume Three of this wonderful, original show. But this volume is actually only one more portion of the show's very first season. Animaniacs aired five days a week for a number of years until it was cancelled by FOX, and eventually resurfaced under another name on another network not long after. So this being the case, there are plenty more volumes to come in the future. In the meantime, this volume has enough laughs to keep any kid or even kid at heart happy for a long time. ...
