Angel got her start in the entertainment industry while still a child, taking singing and dancing lessons and learning a bit of piano. She signed with Jive Records at 13, joining a teenpop combo called No Secrets. The group debuted in 2001, backing up pinup sensation Aaron Carter on songs like "Stride [Jump on the Fizzy]" and "Oh Aaron". No Secrets' eponymous fulllength arrived a year later and generated some buzz in the Radio Disney universe, most notably with their bubbly cover of the Kim Wilde classic "Kids in America" for the Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius soundtrack. After No Secrets' dissolution, Angel became the initial signee to LAbased Midas Records. Believe in Angels Believe in Me, her solo debut, appeared in August 2004. It featured a mix of club, dancepop, and RB elements, and included a collaboration with the hot production team the Matrix. That autumn, Angel supported the album with a successful mall tour cosponsored by the teen lifestyle chain Dry Ice.
