Pros: humours
Cons: the ending
I did enjoy it, my main problems were that the acting especially that of David seemed somewhat plastic to me though for an 80s film I suppose that's to be expected. I did appreciate that the wounds and "gore" weren't overly done they were obvious without being stomach turning. My big question has to be though, who the hell goes into a strange country for a trip and manages to walk off the road and God knows how far into field without noticing it!? I was disappointed in the ending I was actually startled by the ending credits, there really should have been some closing scene, something to take me from "there's David, he really is a werewolf and now he's dead too" to "the end." But honestly I can see why it's the cult classic it is, it managed to remain very light keep me laughing even in the tense scenes.
Dark comedy of werewolf movies ...(David Naughten) gets bitten by a werewolf, eventually becoming one himself. He ends up talking to his dead friend in order to understand his blackouts.
I had been meaning to watch this film for years because it is obviously held in a very high regard as a horror film and is recommended all the time. But I don't get what all the rave is about. It is a good story with a funny script, but it took over an hour to get properly started, and the 'scary' moments were not scary at all. I agree the make-up is excellent, but we hardly ever saw the actual werewolf. Even when it was chasing someone, like the guy in the subway, all we got was the werewolfs perspective through some idiots camera! Why couldn't we see it bounding after him through the corridors? And the 'maulings' were so fake it was embarrassing and there wasn't enough blood. I was disapointed in John Landis, as he did Michael Jackson's Thriller video which, after seeing this, is actually MORE scary!
This is a pretty amazing film which is funny, weird, offbeat, scary, gory, and many more packages rolled into one. The music (all the songs have "moon"-related titles) is a great companion, the effects are classic (Rick Baker won the first Best Makeup Oscar for this), the acting is perfect (Griffin Dunne is excellent as Jack the dead man in limbo and David and Jenny's performances are equally impressive), and the humor in no means outdoes the fear factor. It's everything that a trip to PARIS can't offer. CHECK IT OUT!
My uncle took me to this movie in the theatre when I was FIVE years old. I
I thought this film was cool, the end was sad though even though the premise of the film was supposebly tongue in cheek. The bit where he gets shot when she tells him he loves him had me (almost) in tears, don't ask me. That bit in the shower, oh my god, I hope I'm having sex like that soon. actually that was the best bit in the film, I did enjoy that part, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
This movie is just da bomb
best werewolf movie since the origanal wolfman is american werewolf in london. it just
If you ever get a chance to see this in a theater....DO IT!! The first scene sent chills down my spine (and I am usually very jaded with this stuff). A great movie to watch even on video. Not for kids unless you catch it on Comedy Central. (Yes I said Comedy Central). When your not digging your fingers into the arm-rests or the person next to you, you will be jumping, hiding your eyes or laughing. One of my all time favorites.
This movie is (in my humble opinion) the best
horror movie ever , full of tense moments and witty
remarks , it stands proud even now after almost 20
years(?) in the making.
Even people wo are never scared
of anything think twice about venturing in the dark
after watching this movie.
The first scene is great
and unforgettable.
