American Idiot - Green Day

This album is a best punk rock album of the worldmusic in 2006 !!! I have it and I alway listen it when I feel sad ....

Green Day is the best Rock Opera band ever!!!

So, I finally got to hear anadvance of this album and I am amazed. This is even better than I anticipated. And I had high hopes.
American Idiot starts of with the very powerful title track getting things started with a high dose of adrenilin. It then weaves in and out of a rich mixture of tempos and dynamics while never losing the knowledge that this is in fact a work of Green Day. Through ballads, through chants, through du wop back ups lifted from the best of motown, right on through good old rock'n roll riffs galore, this album moves and ebbs effortlessly.
It's exciting and meloncholly, it's thrilling and sad all in one perfect package. I'm sure the narrow minds will scoff and complain about the punklessness of this album. (Oh, how the young missed out on the good old days of the true punk rock pioneers who mixed melody with anger and made music that was as passionate as it was fierce. ie: The Clash, Generation X, Ramones, etc) These are not random choices for comparison as I feel this Green Day album has all the relevance fro the now as the afore mentioned did in the past. Hopefully kids will listen to American Idiot more than once before condemming this unique and spirited piece of work.

If you could only have one cd in the world, American Idiot would be the choice. It's a masterpiece, a fearless, rocknroll anthem.
Every song on this album is a definite classic, as with pretty much all of Green Day's music.It makes a huge political statement and opens the eyes and ears to the world around us , and to do something about it. Cons: They're completely about appearance, their lyrics suck, their fans suck.
This band was once a good band. They're Insomnia album was one of my favorites, and still is. This cd lacks all the fun, joy, and anger or a punk kid. This is the new age punk SHIT. Depression is delt, but shut the hell up about it. I don't care about your depression. And, I can't fucking relate to the stupidity layed down in front of me. The fans and new look of Greenday has ruined what could have been a truely respected band through time. In my opinion, Greenday should just hang it up and leave their old stuff to the old school punks who so rarely roam the streets today.

Pros: I LOVE the music on this album, the lyrics also have a message to them.
Cons: The album is a bit more mainstream and, ironically "corporate" compared to their other albums, like "Dookie"
I think that overall the album is good, has a message behind the music, but it seems to be now mainstream music and I hear alot of the music on this album on the radio. Not that that is a bad thing, but too much of something good can turn it into blah.

Cons: NOT available without explicit lyrics & cursing
Why is this album NOT available without cursing? It is great, but I cannot let my kids listen to all that profanity. There must be an edited version out there somewhere. It gets played on the radio without cursing. At least greenday (or the record label) could offer an edited version for those of us with kids. There are some people left in this world who love to rock, but still have some common descency left.
Also: Somewhat depressing lyrics.
P.S. Leave out the politics and leave off the make-up.(what's with all the eye liner, anyway???)Was this review helpful? Yes - No
