Eye Opening and Explosive
Pros: Ed Norton is a very good actor in this role.
Cons: None
This is a very interesting movie about racism and the effects it has on the individual and family. This is not your typical hate movie.
This movie reveals some truths about the interpersonal dynamics involved even within hate groups themselves.
The fascinating part is the revelation Ed Norton's character has once this truth is revealed and how he ventures out to change the damage he made to his younger brother.
Very good movie and objective in its portrayal of real life situations.

Pros: The story line
Cons: The grafic fights
This Movie is not for everyone! It was a little hard for me to even stomach. But all in all it had a very good story line to it. It really makes you think. But I will have to warn you.... if your not into viloence, DO NOT watch this movie. If you think you can handle it there is one part in the movie that even turns most men's stomach's. When you hear the main character say "BITE THE CURB"... if you don't have an iron clad stomach, TURN YOUR HEAD!!! It shows the whole thing and it is not a pretty sight. But the movie (for me) was a learning experience!

Pros: awareness on racism and descrimination
Cons: too much violence
American History X was an eye opener.Although people may be a lot open minded today, there are still some who practice descrimination. it may not be descriminating someone's race but it could also be a descrimination of sex or nationality or position or social status. descrimination does not apply only for those whites who hate blacks, or latins, or asians, or whoever. i guess descrimination is when you try to judge someone without even knowing him/her well. the moral is we should not judge other people because in the first place, no one is worthy enough to judge others.

Cons: It has a lot of violence and nudity in it and that means that a lot of people won't be able to see it for a while
I think this is one of the best movies that have ever been made. It has a lot of truth in it and may have helped a lot of people. Edward Norton is an INCREDIBLE actor and I hope to see a lot more of his work very soon. He has shown the best of his work early on in his career and he hasn't let up yet and I don't think he will for a while. All of his movies have a lesson to be learned and if you haven't seen a lot of his movies I suggest that you do ASAP.

i thought this was an awesome movie because it touched on serious subjects. It actually made me cry:( it was quite realistic and moving in alot of ways...ed norton did an awesome job in this movie and i give him 10 stars hehe i loved it!!!

This is a good movie for everybody to see what is going on in the world, especially for all those people who are gang related. People need to be aware of these things, and how to deal with them. People that went through these kinds of struggles, and lived to talk about it, can actually advice people and make a difference by turning theirs lives around.

The film is by far one of the greatest films I have ever seen. It is just terrific. I love the black and white ciniematography. It was beautiful. The prison rape scene is completely harrowing and too realistic and violent even for my taste and I see very violent films. The only problem with the dvd was it has no special features and is horribly made. The picture's good and the 5.1 Dolby surround sound is an added bonus but there's so much to be said. If they re-realease the dvd which I'm sure they will, they should have a commentary by Norton since Tony Kaye the director dissowned the film. I would also like to see cast and crew interviews. It's also horrible in the fact that the case is one of those cardboard snap cases. They're cheaply made. All in all. 5 mother

Great movie to see for teens and adults. Not for kids.
The story line is out there but believable enough. Acting is great and Norton again is a perfect match for the role.

it was a very strong and powerfull movie.. it has a moral.. the united states shouldnt forget its history and its mistakes.. racisim can kill a nation.. i think this movie should be shown to all who's racist... the actors did a great job

This movie is one of the best movie i have ever seen. Edward Norton gives a hell of performance and the filming in this movie is incredible. This movie is a must see!
