Thanks to Aretha, How Sweet the Sound
, April 27, 2001Reviewer: ree1971 - See all ree1971's reviews2 of 2 Yahoo! Users found this Amazing Grace review helpful I absolutely LOVE this album. "Natural Woman", "Respect", "Think", "Chain of Fools", etc. were all great songs by the very talented Aretha Franklin, but when she goes back to church, she takes Gospel music to another level. "Mary, Don't You Weep" was always my favorite. Other excellent pieces are "Precious Lord", "Wholy Holy", and "Precious Memories". I will go so far to say that this album is the GREATEST Gospel album ever made. No questions asked. -

Pro Reviews: Amazing Grace
| EXPERT RATING: From AMG Reviews Aretha Franklin disproved the notion that once you leave the church, you can't go back. She returned in triumph on this 1972 double album, making what might be her greatest release ever in any style. Her voice was chilling, making it seem as if God and the angels were conducting a service alongside Franklin, Rev. James Cleveland, the Southern California Community Choir, and everyone else in attendance. Her versions of "How I Got Over" and "You've Got a Friend" are legendary. - Ron Wynn, All Music Guide |
