    Why four years?

    Cons: To many love songs.

    One would have to wonder why four years? This album could have been written and completed in one. I guess MANA waited to build anticipation on their fans. The only thing positive here is the contribution of Sergio (the guitarist). He penned down the ...music for probably the three best songs of this CD. The two most notable ones are the beautiful song Bendita Tu Luz which is the Duet with Juan Luis Guerra and the other RELAX which was the farthest departure that MANA has taken from their standard pop formula. This CD was mostly written by FHER (lead singer). Alex's contribution was very limited compared to the previous CDs. Gone are the political songs that Mana is also known for. MANA was once referenced as the U2 of Spanish rock for their lyrics. On this album their lyrics sound more like Journey. Read more Less

    Disappointing...

    Pros: "Bendita Tu Luz"--Incredible Duet!!!

    Cons: "Arrancame el Corazon"--far from good.

    I was very excited when I got my hands on an advanced copy of a new Mana album, "Amar Es Combatir"... Unfortunately, after listening to it several times to really develop an impression of this album, I was disappointed. To me, a typical M...ana album consists of a format where almost every song has the potential to be a hit. Since "Falta Amor", Mana has put out 7 great albums with such unforgettable tracks such as "Vivir Sin Aire", "En El Muelle De San Blas", and "Mariposa Traicionera", just to name a few. However, I think this is the first time they've (surprisingly) dropped the ball. No longer are there a multitude of tracks that resonate as potential chart-toppers...now it's only a handful. To the group's credit, the best tracks on the album are incredibly good, and easily on par with some of their finest work. But still, most tracks on the album are lacking the structure and consistency of their previous efforts. The whole album takes on the theme of a relationship break-up, since the lead singer (Fher) recently encountered this situation. ********** THE GOOD: Labios Compartidos--the CD version is mixed much better than the Radio version. Ojala Pudiera Borrarte--Excellent song! Tengo Muchas Alas--Beautifully crafted! Dime Luna--A nice Reggae piece! Bendita Tu Luz--Incredible duet with Juan Luis Guerra! THE BAD: Manda Una Senal--far from good. Arrancame El Corazon--far from consistent. Tu Me Salvaste--a "filler" piece. THE SO-SO: Combatiente--Saved by the Guitar. El Viaje--gets an Honorable Mention. El Rey Tiburon--awkward "Cha-Cha-Cha". Somos Mar Y Arena--"Beach Boys" meets Cumbia. Relax--needs to get remixed into a Dance hit. Read more Less

    Pros: Awesome songs and lyrics. It's awesome to listen to when you feel a bit sad

    Cons: If you get tired easily of mellow rock or that same beat Mana has then you may not like this much.

    This CD has really heartfelt songs and it's one of their best yet! :)
